No food post for today, instead, I’m going to post some pictures of someone very famous in the world of photography. Guess who?

Last weekend, Saucer and I attended a wedding dinner of our ex-colleague in Ipoh. OK, I think they’re going to kill me for blogging about their photographer instead of them! LOL!

The dinner was held at none other than East Ocean restaurant, Ipoh Garden. Surprisingly, the food was pretty good that night. Servings were prompt, food was warm and tea was filled occasionally. Really, one couldn’t ask for me for a wedding dinner. My only gripe was that they cramped too many tables within the area, making it almost impossible to walk without bumping into someone or something.

Ipoh Garden East Ocean Restaurant

My table was also filled with guys! But luckily, no shortage of food. *LOL*

My table

OK as I mentioned earlier, no food post today but I just had to show you this cute fish dessert that was served at East Ocean that night! They called it the lucky fish dessert, so cute don’t you think? In fact, it was something similar to agar-agar, with some filling in the middle. Very creative!

I am a huge fan of Sex and the City. I used to watch it when I was still studying in my uni, downloading episodes after episodes from the network drive and watching them instead of studying. *LOL* So, when I heard of an event which was related to Sex and the City, I simply had to go! It was the launch of the limited edition SKYY Vodka as the official cocktail for Sex and the City 2 movie.

Saucer and witch at Sultan Lounge, Mandarin Oriental Hotel

Thought my dress looked familiar eh? I once tried it from Irenelim boutique, but ended up not getting it. But Irene thought I looked fabulous in it and here I was, with the dress! Thanks to Irenelim fashion!

The bar

SKYY Vodka ice sculpture

Following the announcement of the exciting deal at Milan and San Francisco in mid-Feb, the partnership between SKYY Vodka and the second edition of the Sex and the City film reached another city. The four new seductive concoctions inspired by the movie for the fairer sex are Glamour Girl, Fabulous Flirt, Busy Beauty ,Pretty Princess and Mr. New York

Glamour Girl

A classic cocktail with a sweet and colorful twist, the Glamour Girl is a girl’s best friend. Always uniquely dressed for the occasion and decked out from head to toe, she makes an entrance like only a true New York fashion maven can.

Fabulous Flirt

Fabulous Flirt is dripping with an unparalleled allure so bold and sexy, you’ll refuse to settle for anything less. With an untouchable blend of sensuous orange and raspberries, just one sip will stay you all night long.

Busy Beauty

With a set of killer stilettos and a busy schedule ahead, you are ready to take on any challenge in life and love. The best thing is you’ll never be too busy to look beautiful. Showcasing a blend of grapes and lemon, garnished with Basil leaves, Busy Beauty will leave you head over heels and litigating for more.

Pretty Princess

Strutting her way down Fifth and Madison, a classically styled Pretty Princess is easy to love and impossible to ignore. Bubbly with just a hint of the dramatic, this drink is refreshing, with a dash of the bold and unexpected matched only by its lovely Sex and the City™ inspiration.

Mr. New York

At the center of a love/hate relationship that’s impossible to resist, no man makes or breaks a woman’s SKYYline like the always-dapper Mr. New York. A not-so-classic elixir that keeps our girl on her toes, this drink is big enough to handle any black tie affair.

witch with a Busy Beauty

The turn out was pretty impressive. The club was fully packed with people!

Last weekend, I was up to something cheeky. Together with my Kai’s fiancee, we planned a surprise birthday party for him. I was in charge of roping in Kai’s colleagues and to make sure they didn’t leak the secret out. I think we did a pretty good job because Kai didn’t suspect anything at all throughout the week. On that day, all of us gathered at the poolside of his apartment, and we brought all sorts of food! Just look at the huge spread!

The potluck party

Lots of puffs

Most of the food on the table were contributed by Kai’s family. There were lots of muffins, chicken pies, kaya puffs, pizza, KFC and don’t forget the huge pot of fried noodles!

Lots of food and big bowl of fried noodles

These muffins were a big hit that night. I think they were vanilla flavoured muffins – really soft and spongy.

Delicious muffins

Another popular hit was the chicken pie, which I only had a bite of because I was already too full! The kaya puff was the box below the chicken pie.

Chicken pie and kaya puffs

As for me, my contribution was nasi lemak! I bought them from an aunty near where I stayed, and there were only 15 packs left so I bought all of them from her! They were not bad, and the most notable feature was that the whole packet was wrapped with banana leaf. You know how hard it is to get nasi lemak which is wrapped with banana leaf completely? Usually, they just put a small piece of it inside the packet. Banana leaf very expensive now, is that it?

Nasi lemak

It was a Friday and as usual, we have a 2.5 hours lunch break. This time, we had something special planned for us, by our soon-to-be-ex-colleague, Srini. Srini, who hails from Bangalore, told us that he would be preparing a nice lunch for the few of us in the lunch gang, and asked us to visit his place during lunch. Bearing an empty stomach (I didn’t have breakfast that morning ) and a huge appetite, we attacked Srini’s place like a pack of hungry wolves. Look at the dishes that were ready waiting for us.

What’s for lunch?

Upon revealing the dishes, we saw briyani, fish, dhal, fish curry, prawn curry and even rassam! At first, all of us were so shy to make a move, until Srini asked us all to just sit down and he would serve each of us, true to his Indian hospitality.

Briyani, fish, dhal, fish curry, prawn curry & rassam

We all shamelessly sat down while Srini insisted on serving us. Such a kind fella, he was!

Lunch being served

My favourite dish of the day was the awesome briyani rice! Made from spices, vege and meat, the rice was oh-so-fragrant and delicious! There were even pieces of chicken drumstick hidden within the briyani!

Amazing briyani rice

Then there was rassam, which is a type of South Indian soup prepared from tamarind juice and tomato, among others. It gives a somewhat sour taste which is also meant to be appetizing.

Rassam

The prawn curry was perfect with the briyani. It was so good that I couldn’t resist myself from having second helpings of these. And the briyani. *shifty-eyed*

Prawn curry

Of course, no Indian cuisine would be perfect with the dhal. Srini and his wife didn’t fail us with this lip-smacking dhal which went well with the briyani. Ok, so everything here went well with the briyani. It’s no surprise that I had a few helpings of the briyani then.

Awesome dhal

After making appointment with Foongpc one MONTH in advance (yes, he’s a very busy man and actsy some more *LOL* joking!), we finally decided to go for our long-awaited karaoke session at Red Box at The Curve. Before that, we had some other suggestions to go to Neway or Red Box at IOI Mall but at the end, Saucer preferred to go to The Curve, so I made the reservation a few days before. I did some research online to find out about their rates and hours. I saw this on the website, stating that Lunch session would be from 11am – 2pm, with pricing of RM14++ onwards. So I made a reservation for 3 persons and confirmed the pricing.

Pricing of Red Box, The Curve

We reached there promptly at 11am and asked for our reserved room. To our horror, instead of the listed 11am – 2pm (3 hours), the receptionist told us that we could only have the room for 2 hours (11am – 1pm)! What nonsense! All 3 of us were shocked to find that out, and upon further query, only we were told that 11am – 2pm was only valid for 6 persons and above. That is ridiculous! No where in their website did they state that the hours were going to be shortened to 2 if we had less than 6 persons. None! And even when I called to make the reservation, the operator didn’t inform me of the 2-hour period as well! Basically, we were all led to believe that we could sing happily for a good 3 hours (and hence adjusting our schedule accordingly) until we stepped into Red Box itself, which was by then, too late.

When asked how much did we have to top up to get the extra hour, it was a freaking RM50! Blood-sucking don’t you think? RM50 just for that extra one hour, to be divided into 3 persons. Doesn’t make sense at all. What to do? Since we’re already there, we just went in reluctantly and told ourselves that it was our first and last time there. This is some trick they pull off, I must say. Putting all the figures clearly on the website (which I believed naively) and then disappointing us when we’re there. Surely, other customers who had made the reservations like us would still proceed with their session, no doubt with a dissatisfied feeling.

Well that aside, Saucer and I did have a great time with Foongpc. This was our 3rd meeting in person, and we always enjoyed the time together. However, this was the first time I heard Foong singing! Do you want to hear him sing too? I have actually recorded a short snippet of the 3 of us singing “Heal the World” by Michael Jackson but of course, my voice somehow sounded louder since the recorder was near me. *LOL* Don’t vomit after you listen ok! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

After the karaoke session, Foong said that we were supposed to meet Merryn at 2pm. Of course, because of Red Box ruining our schedule, we now had 1 hour to kill. So we went over to Ikea for some hot dogs before meeting up with Merryn and pulling a prank on her. Don’t be mad at us ok! We love you! It was a fun afternoon chatting with the bloggers at Starbucks. And Merryn’s son Ethan is ever so cute!

Waking up at 4.30am is no easy feat, especially when you sleep at 1am the night before, but that was what I had to do on my actual wedding day! The appointment for make up was at 5am, and I had to wake up earlier to wash my hair from the night before. *sigh* Luckily I felt much better after the early morning shower, and before long, I was already halfway done on my make up!

Made up eyes

In the middle of the make up session, my aunty from the US called to congratulate me on my big day! I was so surprised and touched, but I couldn’t talk long for I was rushing to be back before 7am!

Call from US aunty

At about 6.40am, the make up was done and the veil was pinned on.

My make up artist, Fancy

I reached home by 6.50am, and guess what? The groom entourage was already there! *Gasp* I was in a panic because I couldn’t let them see me! They’re supposed to reach at 7am, what were they doing so early!! So I had no choice but to call my hubby and told him to drive away first. And I rushed in to get changed! Anyway, I didn’t have to rush because the groom entourage had to go through a series of obstacles before they see me.

Some raw egg mixed with something

Platter of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy stuff!

I’m impressed with what my bridesmaids did with the platter of food! They were cut up so meticulously ok! I was expecting them to just pass the guys one whole bittergourd for them to finish, but they ended up cutting it into such fine pieces! *LOL* Well, what can I say, the guys had it easy!

In the meantime, I was just stuck in my room, with nothing to entertain me. I was so thirsty at one point in time, that I had to use my mobile phone and call the house phone downstairs to get someone to bring me water! *fml*

My nice French manicure

Luckily, the photographer did come and entertain me for a short while, that is, until the groom entourage attacked the house!

Putting on my Charles & Keith sandals

My bridesmaids for the day! I requested for all of them to wear the rose-red coloured dress, but too bad one of them had a slight miss. So we made her the head of bridesmaid! *LOL*

May Foong, Mei Fong, Corinne, Theng, Angie & Szu Ann <3

Don’t they just look gorgeous??

Later on, my parents came up to my room to place the veil over my head.

Patiently waiting

There was nothing else for me to do but to wait and listen for the arrival of the groom entourage.

The groom entourage looking dashing in red ties

Soon enough, I heard car horns booming from afar, and I knew the guys were here.

My brother opening the car door

Our wedding bands

And soon, the games started! I wasn’t watching these first hand, so I could only tell the story from the pictures by Steve. This must have been the raw egg mixture with something. Judging from how Chris looked, it must have been nasty! *LOL*

Drinking raw egg

Gross…

Then came the platter of food to be eaten. Again, I have to say this, the guys did have it easy to eat such a small amount! Girls, you were all being too kind!

Platter of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy food

The best man, Wailian, took the manly job of brushing his teeth with wasabi! I wonder how spicy the wasabi was, but he didn’t seem to care! That’s what a good heng dai is, eh?

Chris had an attempt eating a spoonful of wasabi too!

After effect of wasabi

In the middle of the games, the groomsmen tried to enter the house! Luckily, Angie came to the rescue! *LOL*

Angie coming to the rescue

Games are not over guys! The next in line was the dance! The girls made the guys dance to Single Lady by Beyonce. Haha I definitely want to watch the video of this!

Ooh sexy move showing butts!

When they passed this stage, the girls had something else in store! Wax strips!!! *LOL* All the guys were given wax strips each and they’re supposed to wax part of their leg hair. This is to show them the painful routine we girls go through just to look good for them! *hmpf*

Peeling of wax strips

I think some of the guys peeled the wax strips really slowly (like Saucer) and hence didn’t get much hair out. They should have just stripped the wax strip off within 1 second! That should inflict more pain. *evil*

Whose hair was this?

There was one more game to be played but unfortunately, the dai kam je (Really party-pooper) rushed them and the girls obediently stopped. Hence, the passing of angpow from the groom!

Angpow to the bridesmaids

And finally, the entourage was in!

Saucer entering the house

And soon enough, they’re all outside my room, while Saucer came in to unveil me and pass me the ring and flowers.

Passing of rose bouquet

And then both of us headed downstairs to start the tea ceremony.

The tea ceremony started with the most elderly and senior members of the house, which are my grandparents.

Serving tea to my grandparents

Followed by my parents. My mom teared a bit that day, and she was embarrassed that the photographer caught her in a picture!

Serving tea to my parents

After that, it was tea ceremony for all relatives from all over the place. Last but not least, it was us giving angpows to single siblings and cousins. And more gifts!

My brother giving me a gold bracelet

A picture with the girls! I really like this shade of red. Looks really good in pictures!

Us with the bridesmaids

Group picture with groomsmen and bridesmaids – we LOVE this shot!

After more family portraits were taken, we were on our way out to the car. My dad held the umbrella for me while my mom was sprinkling rice all over behind me. I wonder what these gestures symbolize?

Walking towards the car

Us in the car

Our journey was from Kampar all the way to Alor Star, approximately a 3-hour drive! My family was smart enough to buy us some snacks and drinks and placed them in the car so that we had something to munch on along the way. God bless them, because that was the only time I ever had the chance to eat something the whole morning!

Picture taken along the tunnel

I just love the picture of the car above! So very professionally taken! Thanks to Steve Tan! The 3-hour journey soon ended, and we reached Alor Star where my mother-in-law was waiting.

My nephew-in-law opening the car door

And that, my friends, marks the end of the wedding ceremony, detailed all the way from Kampar to Alor Star! I’m finally, officially, part of Saucer’s family. I had to start calling everyone in his family like my own. It will take some getting used to, but time will definitely improve it!

Getting down from the car

I had fun during the whole wedding ceremony, the waiting in anticipation, the nervous feeling, the excitement, the worry, the stress! They all ended well! I didn’t realize how stressed I actually was until the whole ordeal was over, and we were finally resting in the hotel room. That was when I started to feel hungry and relieved. It was exactly the same feeling I had whenever I finished my exams in university. No kidding!

A week before my big day, my dear girlfriends arranged a hen night for me! It was to be a day of pampering and food and lots of catching up! We were supposed to meet up at Bangsar Village 2 by 3pm but due to the traffic jam, I was late and only reached around 3.20pm?

Once I reached, Corinne (my bridesmaid) placed a tiara on my head and a sash across my body, with the words “Bride to Be”. Oh dear, it was so embarrassing but I had to wear it because I was late! *LOL* Our first agenda was to have a couple of hours of pampering doing our manicure and pedicure at this lovely nail parlour called Chic Nail Spa by Soong Ai Ling, at Bangsar Village 2.

Beautiful and chic decor

Lots of perfume on display

I totally fell in the love with the decor of Chic Nail Spa. It was all very modern and chic, and also very functional! They have a place to put your jewelry, to keep your bag, to keep your shoes and to rest your legs. Everything is well-allocated in the nail spa. And the best part is the size of the spa, it could accommodate 8 persons at one time. So all of us girls can get pampered at the same time without having to wait for our respective turns.

A nice cup of tea served during the duration – love the china set!

Picture of every one of us was taken during our pampering time! Look at my sash!

witch getting a pedicure

Corinne here who flew back all the way from Australia! HUGS!

Mei Fong, who flew some 13 hours from the UK! *Kisses*

Miaw Wah, my long-time friend from Kindergarten to Secondary school

Choy Hong, school mate from secondary school

May Foong, one of my besties from Primary school onwards – oh dear, more than 18 years ago now!

The assistants at Chic Nail Spa were very professional and quick with their job. We started with pedicure first, and later on, a foot scrub. While our feet were getting scrubbed, another assistant came over and worked on our finger nails. At one point, there were two girls pampering us, and we felt like princesses!

Our completed nails – no prize for guessing which was mine!

Painted toe nails!

Did you notice something similar with our feet above? All of us were wearing open-toe sandals! And out of 6 of us, 5 of us bought the sandals on that day! The moral of the story? Wear open toe sandals when you plan on getting a pedicure. Clearly, we’re amateurs at that. Corinne was even wearing sneakers! *LOL*

witch with nicely done nails and a sash

A group picture before we left our first destination!

The girls and I at my Hen night

Next, we moved on to have dinner! Mei Fong suggested a place called Delicious, which is no stranger to most of us in KL. I agreed to it immediately! Lucky for us, there was a table available even though we showed up almost an hour earlier than the booked time.

The girls waiting for food

Here are some of the food we had that night! Can’t remember the names though, but they were mostly good!

Spicy crab pasta

Napolicious pasta (I think)

Curry chicken – huge portion!

Grilled chicken salad

I know, you must be wondering who ate just salad? It was me of course! Well, as much as I wanted to dip my fork into the delicious pasta, I had to stop myself from eating carbohydrates before my big day! My dresses all fit perfectly and couldn’t tolerate even an extra half inch increment ok! *LOL*

The girls and I

Thank you so much girls, for taking the time and effort to celebrate my hen night! Especially to Corinne and Mei Fong who flew all the way back! I love you guys to bits!!! *MUAXX*

It was my second time meeting blogger Foong and I was late! The truth is, Saucer and I had a pre-wedding shoot on the same morning, at 8am! So we woke up at 7am and drove to the studio and by the time we finished our business there, it was already 4+pm! *gasp* We reached home at 5pm, I think, and I was so very exhausted that I just dropped dead on the sofa once I reached home, with makeup intact. *gross* But I was really TOO tired. Next thing I knew, I heard an sms at around 7+pm, and that jolted me up. It was Foong reminding me of the dinner (of course I hadn’t forgotten, just overslept:P). Anyway, after rushing through it all, we reached Bangkok Wasabe safely, and placed our orders.

Foong’s drink of Special Thai iced tea

My watermelon juice

Following the waiter’s (Johnny) recommendation, we ordered the steamed siakap with lime and chili. It was apparently a very famous order in Bangkok Wasabe. Unfortunately, we found the fish to be not that fresh! The meat was not flaky and smooth as expected from a fresh fish, and we mentioned this to Johnny. He quickly removed the dish to the kitchen and came back shortly telling us that it wasn’t the case that the fish was not fresh, but it was overcooked! And he gladly replaced a new one for us. So very nice of him huh?

Steamed siakap with lime and chili (RM35)

Of course, we couldn’t stop ourselves from ordering tom yam when we’re in a Thai restaurant, could we? We had the tom yam seafood, which was quite nice. Above average, really. The soup was thick enough and flavoured with a variety of seafood without being too sour. It was just right in terms of spicyness, that is, to me. I saw Saucer sweating profusely though, LOL.

Tom Yam seafood

Then, we had the kangkung belacan, which was pretty normal, but the portion was a little too small.

Kangkung belacan (RM8)

The pandan chicken though, was the best! No wonder they’re sold out! One serving was supposed to have 5 pieces, but there were only 4 left, and we bagged them all! They were really good. Very aromatic even before you open the leaves, and the chicken inside was well marinated. The skin was still a little crispy, and the interior was all moist and flavourful. This is a must-have!

Pandan Chicken (RM12/5pcs)

As for desserts, we ordered the Mango sticky rice as Foong was missing the one he had in Bangkok. But sad to say, this was a far cry from what he used to eat there. Even for someone who hasn’t been to Bangkok like me, I thought this dish was just so-so. The rice was not soft enough, and it was rather tasteless on its own. The mango was sour! Oh well, probably not the right season to be eating mangoes, I suppose?

Mango sticky rice

The last dish that we had was the Thab Thim Krob, another famous Thai dessert. This, in my opinion, fared much better than the first dessert. Slices of sweet jackfruit coupled with juicy water chestnut in milky santan, they ended up to be a pretty good combination!

Thab Thim Krob

Before we left the place, I pestered Foong to take a picture with me! As you all know, he’s a very shy person, but I promised to cover his face up. I even purposely resized the picture to the smallest size! *LOL* Foong, are you happy with this picture? You look so cute and tall! Hahaha…

After the dinner, Saucer suggested that we should go for a movie, since it was Saturday night anyway. We wanted to watch Storm Warriors but couldn’t book the tickets through the phone, so we decided to drive to the Cathay Cinemas and try our luck there. Little did I know that the area was all decorated with beautiful Christmas trees and decorations! Both Foong and I started snapping away with our trusty LX3.

The giant Christmas tree

We managed to buy tickets for show at 12.35am! Having another hour to kill, we had drinks at Winter Warmers, as mentioned in this post here. As for the movie, I thought it was just OK. I think I slept through maybe 30% of the show! *LOL* I don’t know if it’s because of the midnight show (not really a night owl) or because of the storyline. Anyway, it was a great outing and we’d definitely be hanging out more often soon!

It was our company family day trip and it was agreed that we made a trip to Port Dickson for a picnic! Since I had not been to Port Dickson (PD) before, I agreed almost right away. It was held during a Sunday, so I thought, might as well go there a day earlier to discover the beauty of PD beaches that I always read about. We booked a room in Le Paris Hotel which was right in the middle of PD town itself. In actual fact, I booked another room somewhere in Blue Lagoon prior to that, but upon arriving the so-called ‘apartment’, the place was so quiet, eerie and gloomy and Saucer and I both thought it was better to look for some place nearer to civilization. Thank goodness for that! Our room in Le Paris had a sea view, which was really pretty!

Our balcony

View from the balcony

Sea view from the balcony

Coffee table and chairs in the room

The same evening we were there, it was raining the whole day! That’s why we didn’t get to go to the beach. *sigh* The next morning though, we were up quite early to catch the sun light. The following pictures were taken from the beach just in front of our hotel.

A dead coral

As you can see, the sand was not really smooth and white, contrary to what I was expecting.

Le Paris Hotel in Port Dickson

Before long, we headed to Blue Lagoon, which was where our family picnic event was going to be. It was situated about 10 miles (16km) away from the PD town, and apparently one of the nicest beaches in PD. When I was there, again, I was disappointed. The beach there was slightly better, but the water was still murky and dark. There’s really nothing ‘blue’ about the Blue Lagoon, except for the sky.

Blue Lagoon beach

My colleagues soon arrived with their families and everyone started building their own tents. When they saw both Saucer and I just standing and looking around, they asked us where’s our tent. I said, we didn’t have one.. and my colleagues just laughed and said, that’s because we don’t have kids yet! *LOL*

Our picnic site

We had so much food, it was enough to feed the entire beach! Other than the potluck food that we all brought, we also had BBQ there. But it looked like some of the chicken were badly burnt! *LOL*

BBQ chicken, sausages and prawns

I took the time to get to know some of my colleagues’ family members and kids, especially these two that I enjoyed playing with the most! They’re so very cute!

Yummy food for everyone!

After eating, I took a walk on the beach. The ebb tide made the beach really soggy and squirmy to walk on, so much so that one of the kids kept crying. I guess it didn’t help that there were loads of small crabs crawling out of the holes in the beach. Pretty gross sight, I must say myself.

Water sports

Since the water wasn’t really appealing, we resorted to playing on the beach. I relived my childhood by building sand castles! *LOL*

Building sand castles

Look at our work!

Later on, it was game time! We had games for children as well as adults. The first game for kids was to look for candies inside the sand. You should have seen the look on their faces when they were busy looking for candies. So very serious and intense!

Looking for candies on the beach

The second game was to find matching slippers that we placed on random on the beach. Some kids who didn’t understand ended up carrying only 1 sandal, only to be sent back to search for the matching half.

Search for a matching pair of sandals

When it came to the adults games, Saucer joined this game where you had to place a ball in between your legs and run across the specified length on the beach. Very similar to our sports during primary school days eh? Those days seemed so long ago. We used to be so active and agile. *sigh*

We also played another game in pairs, whereby we had to throw a water balloon to our partner and the partner must catch it. After every successful attempt, we had to take a step back away from our partner, hence making the separation distance larger. The pair that could last the longest without dropping the water balloon would win. We came in second!

Games for adults

The last game we played was in a pair of one adult and one child. We had to take turns filling up a bottle with sea water, using just one sponge! Man that was not as easy as it sounded to be. My sponge didn’t seem to contain water! Every time I ran out to the sea and back, there were merely few drops of water coming out from the sponge. *fml* Needless to way, my team got the last place for this.

Fill up the bottle!

Lastly, a group picture! It was my first time hanging out with my colleagues and their families, which ended up pretty successful. Only thing was, I ended up having mild sun burn on my legs and arms! Next time I must apply more sun block! *LOL*

Last month, I was invited to a wedding dinner by an old friend from university, Win-Son. After much preparation and countless of email and sms reminders, the big day had arrived. As usual, wedding dinners start later than predicted, so we took the opportunity to camwhore.

Stan, witch and Chiang

I was very impressed with the settings and environment of Passion Road. They know how to exude the romantic ambiance and bring out the love in you. Very westernized decoration as well. Though one downside to having an outdoor reception, is the lack of an aircon! Even though it was past 7pm and dark, the weather was still too warm outdoors. Also, the number of ceiling fans was also limited, so those who happened to sit underneath a fan should consider himself lucky.

witch, Koon, Pet and Yong

witch and Stan

Kah Wei (Best man) and witch

Look at the wedding favours! Very cute cupcakes with our names on them!

Wedding favours

At some time past 8pm, our first dish was served. Dinner was 5-course fare, Western style. The appetizer was nicely presented, however, the prawns were a tad cold. I guess that’s the gripe when you have big group dinners. Food is usually cold by the time it is served.

Pan fried prawns with chilled mango salsa

The second dish was the soup, which was the only dish I enjoyed the most that night. It was still warm and very fragrant with wild mushroom. The soup was thick and rich, and I believe it did a great job filling up our empty tummies. *LOL*

Wild mushroom soup with garlic bread

Halfway through our meal, the groom Win Son came over to say hi. We haven’t met each other ever since our convocation which was like a million years ago. He still looked the same though, and happy as ever.

Win-Son

The bride, Kate

Later on, the third dish was served, which was meagre in terms of portion and presentation. The duck meat was also very cold and a little tough. Perhaps more work needs to be done in terms of food quality.

Orange and watercress with roasted duck salad

The main course followed shortly, which was cod fish. Most of us ordered cod fish as opposed to the chicken breast, which was the other choice. The cod was again, disappointingly cold. I believe the food there would have tasted so much better if only they were kept warm.

Pan fried cod fillet with pineapple and grilled potato wedges

Finally, the dessert! The apple pie was not too bad, although I tasted better. I think I have seriously come to the conclusion that food at wedding dinners will never be good, no matter how expensive it is. What do you think?

Apple pie served with whipped cream and strawberry

More photo session ensued, starting with me posing with the big bottle of Chivas on our table! There was a bottle on each table, and ours was still unopened by the time we had dessert. Shy eh?

witch with Chivas

The bride and groom came for toasting ceremony later on, and our table cheered ever so loud!

Win-Son and Kate

Gripes about food aside, I think Passion Road has a really nice and romantic setting for wedding reception. They even have an indoor dining area as well, which is air-conditioned! (Thank God). But the indoor area can cater to a very limited number of guests, so for big groups, it might not be suitable (as with the case of Win Son).

Passion Road indoor dining

Just before we left, we took a few more shots with the gang. One picture when everyone was not ready and one when we looked serious.

Serious picture

Oh, that night, I was lucky that Koon asked me to accompany her to stay overnight at Traders Hotel. Traders Hotel! I had never stepped foot there before, but I heard of their signature Sky Bar too many times. Of course, since we were already there, we took the chance to go in for a while just to take pictures of the Twin Towers. Also, since we were dressed nicely, we weren’t even asked to pay any cover charge.

Twin Towers view from Sky Bar

I had a good time catching up with old friends in this dinner. So much so that I was reluctant to say goodbye. Here’s a picture of me before I went into slumberland on the very comfortable bed!
