Hard Rock Cafe Phuket
Hard Rock Cafe, that famous chain of American restaurants with a rock and roll theme has one of its many branches planted in Phuket, Thailand. When we were walking along the streets of Patong one night, the giant neon electric guitar caught our attention. That, and also the loud and happening music that got many people dancing on the streets. Since we were looking for dinner, we thought, why not? Once we’re at the entrance, we were asked by the usher whether we’re there for food or drinks and were shown to our table in no time.

Inside the restaurant, we spotted a row of tables in a booth-like arrangement and we took one of them.

After browsing their menu, the first item that caught our eye was the Legendary 10 oz. Burger. According to the menu,
“Our proprietary blend of fresh, Australian Angus Beef isn’t just a burger. It’s a legend. And has been for nearly four delicious decades.”
So how could we resist?

Legendary 10oz. Burger
True enough, when the burger arrived, we were impressed. The thick slab of Australian Angus Beef was cooked medium well, with slightly charred edges and topped with bacon, 2 slices of cheese, onion rings, lettuce and tomato. The beef patty was tender and still retained some of the juices within. The addition of bacon and cheese flavoured the burger very well without overwhelming the taste of the beef. It was a one legendary burger indeed.

Together with any Legendary burgers, we had the option to top up about THB110 (~RM11) for a milkshake. And we were glad we did, for the chocolate milkshake we had was thick, creamy and very chocolatey. Yum!

The Honey Citrus Grilled Chicken Salad was really special in that it came with blue cheese! The huge plate of salad was tossed with honey citrus dressing, Cajun chicken, orange slices, pecans and dried cranberries. I am no fan of blue cheese but I was surprised that the addition of these cheese crumbs went really well with the salad. Not to mention the crunch of pecans and the sweetness of orange slices made the combination so wholesome and healthy.

Last but not least, the Jumbo Combo, which was a platter of spring rolls, chicken wings, onion rings, potato skins and chicken tenders. Of all those served, I thought they did a pretty good job with the hickory-smoked chicken wings, which were very flavourful, juicy and tender. The chicken tenders were deep fried to perfection too, with a resounding crunch every time we bit into them. The baked potato skins were good when they were still warm but were not too attractive once they’re cold.

No doubt we were in Phuket and not eating tom yam for the first time. It was rather liberating! Hard Rock Cafe managed to maintain its standards across the globe and we felt that we got our money’s worth from their quality and huge portions. It’s a good alternative if you have had too many pandan chicken or tom yam soup!

Witch, have you been to Hard Rock Hotel, Bali? I think its haunted. I was in one of their bathrooms and I had this eerie feeling like a presence in there with me First time I ever had such a feeling despite staying in many hotels all over whenever I travel. It was really creepy.
And btw, I was joking about not checking out ‘the other place’ in MM, if you know what I meant.
Yes, I have been to the one in Bali, but only a passing visit at their store. OMG was it really haunted? That’s scary!!
