Fiery Hot Inferno Chicken Wings at Frontera

I’ve always heard of the best-selling Habanero Hot wings from Frontera that apparently make one sweat buckets because of the spiciness. Being a fan of spicy food, both Saucer and I were ready to take the challenge! It was made possible when we won some Groupsmore vouchers that entitled us to a basket of Habanero Hot Wings and Taquitos de Pollo. Without further ado, we made our way there during the weekend, to find the place quiet and peaceful.

Since we had 2 vouchers, we ordered for one basket of wings to be non-spicy (BBQ sauce) and the other to be extra spicy (inferno). The Basket of Habanero Hot Wings and Taquitos de Pollo arrived soon, smoking hot from the fried tortillas.

The BBQ Sauce wings were tasty, tender and juicy. Almost too flavourful to be eaten on its own, it had a nice shiny glaze on the outside.

Taquitos de Pollo, which are fried corn tortillas filled with shredded chicken, were served with salsa and sour cream. Give it a good dip in those sauces and sink your teeth into the munchy goodness of the tortilla. It was an extremely delightful snack! The shredded chicken inside was moist and flavourful, making it almost an irresistible and addictive bite. But bear in mind though, it’s quite filling! I had 2 of these and I was half full. :P

The attention of the day though, was the Inferno Hot wings. We were all trying to procrastinate eating them for fear of the effect it might have on us! *LOL* Saucer started with the first piece, and he said “It’s not that bad” after his first bite. After about 20 seconds though, the first beads of sweat started to develop on his forehead. I looked at him curiously, “Are you ok?” and he said, the spiciness was starting to kick in! And that’s when he started sweating buckets, as you can see from the photo below! :D

True enough, when I ate it, the effect of the spiciness would only be felt after about 20 seconds, and when it did, every bite after that would feel like a burning sensation to the lips and tongue. I have a slightly higher tolerance to spiciness than Saucer, so I didn’t sweat that much but it was indeed spicy and hot! You have to try it for yourself to know how it feels like! :)

Spicy and sweaty!

As for our mains, we had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich which came with a reasonably huge size of grilled chicken, topped with cheese, onions, tomatoes and lettuce in between the burger bread. I have mentioned time and again that I’m no fan of chicken breast, but Frontera has a way of making even chicken breast taste good. The outer layer of the chicken was grilled until golden brown, while the interior was juicy and tender. One of the better chicken sandwiches around, and healthy too!

I love these hot chicken drumlets and wings. Ate quite a bit in Singapore, but the word “Inferno” sounds so deadly, so sinful… and thus so yummy!

Witchy should come up with a book. In the book is a map of KL, where there are many dots all over the map listing all the yummy food that you have compiled so far. You can copy and paste your blog posts to the book, so all these illustrations can being us mouth watering chaps down to your favourite stalls. Will buy a few books from ya should you publish it. =p
