Special Udon at Marufuku
Last weekend, we had yet another birthday celebration with my fellow tweeps! This time, it was a double celebration of Merryn‘s and Eric‘s birthdays! After such raving reviews on this udon place, we all finally decided to go to Marufuku for lunch. Marufuku is known for its udon, so without question, all of us had udon. The menu for udon was very straightforward and clear, 2 pages of udon with various toppings at the pricing of only maximum RM10 per bowl.

After deliberating, most of us ordered the Nabeyaki Udon, which was udon in Japanese fish-based broth, served hot in claypot, topped with tempura ebi, fish cake, fried tofu, shiitake mushroom egg and chopped spring onion.

Hot Green Tea
The udon arrived in a piping hot claypot, with the soup still mildly bubbling within. The fried tofu and ebi were evident and the udon looked fresh and smooth. Chopped spring onion on top gave the bowl a fragrant finish, although my first impression was the smaller-than-usual portion.

Nabeyaki Udon (RM10)
The homemade udon was indeed smooth and springy, with a slight chewy texture to it. Eating that with the soup proved to be really comforting, except that we were sitting outdoors subject to the warm weather.

I’ve never been to Marufuku but go to Sanuki on a weekly basis. Love their noodles. 1 bowl is enough for me, but the guys usually need 2 bowls each to satisfy their hunger.
Haha.. Well, the serving is a little small but it is very reasonable price for Jaya 1.

(And its so yummmmmy! Love the nabeyaki udon)

Haha, foongpc’s well equipped with his panda at all times huh?
Yeah, cheap but not filling enough. Just get a few sticks of yakitori and you’re good.

I used to think that the portions were small, but after going through one bowl (with a couple of sides like kakiage and karaage), I find myself quite full. But yeah, guys may need 2 servings.
