3 in 1 Celebration at il Lido
Ever since my first visit to Il Lido a few months ago, I couldn’t stop raving to Saucer about how good the food was, and that we had to go try it one day. The plan was postponed over and over again until one night, when we decided to go there to celebrate 3 occasions – Christmas + New Year + Monthly anniversary. OK, perhaps the monthly anniversary is not really a monthly thing, but another excuse to make the dinner more special
Anyway, we drove to Il Lido hoping to park within the building, only to find out that only valet service was allowed. Charges were an exorbitant RM15, so we decided to park outside the building instead, which was free and had plenty of spaces!

We made a reservation in advance and got a really nice table at one corner to ourselves. Bright and colourful flowers were seen on each table, making the otherwise plain white table look more cheerful and pretty.

After placing our orders, we were given a piece of complimentary Foccacia each. While I loved the taste of the soft and fluffy texture of the bread, I found it a tad too oily. I ate the bread by holding it with my fingers and at the end of it, my fingers were coated with oil. Saucer was a little fussy with oily stuff so he didn’t quite like this.

Amuse bouche that night was Deep fried Eggplant with Spicy Tomato Sauce. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Nice!

For starters, I ordered the Baked Eggplant & Mozzarella Cheese Cake with Tomato and Basil, which I had tried before in my first visit. This time though, I found it to be slightly different from before, in that it’s more oily with more cheese and definitely richer. Halfway through this, I was already quite full. Frankly, even though it was quite delicious, I was rather disappointed with it as I don’t remember it being this greasy.

Saucer’s order was Traditional Vegetable Soup with Pesto, which tasted as plain as it looked. He loves minestrone, any type of minestrone to be exact, but he was sorely disappointed with this. It was bland and plain and definitely didn’t look like it was worth the RM25 price tag.

My heart stopped at the Tuscan Grilled Beef Sirloin Steak. The portion looks a lot bigger compared to your pappardelle. =P
But your picture of the pappardelle is gorgeous! Makes me want to lick the screen. LOL
