3-day Getaway to Penang – Part 2
Day 2 on my 3-day getaway to Penang! After I was done with my work in the morning, Saucer and I met his brother for lunch! We went to Penang road for their famous cendol and laksa.
Parking can be a big problem here so it’s advisable to go during off-peak hours. Still, no guarantee! We had to make 2 rounds before finding a car park. First off, Penang cendol!

The service was really fast and efficient. Just tell the guy how many bowls and you’d be served within seconds! I love the cendol here because it’s full of coconut milk fragrance, with lots of fat cendol and thinly shaved ice. Oh, not to forget the delicious gula melaka (palm sugar) of course! The combination just rocks!

Delicious and cooling on a hot afternoon
Next, we proceeded indoors to the coffee shop Joo Hooi Cafe, for the Assam Laksa and Loh Bak. The portion was quite small, which meant we could eat more variety. Ah, I miss Penang Loh Bak already!

Every time I visit Penang, I never forget to buy their famous Tambun biscuits! There are simply too many shops making/selling it now, but I’m forever loyal to the one and only Him Heang.
There’s only one shop selling it and it’s located at Burmah road. I love the biscuits from this shop as I found them to be very fragrant, light and flaky skin with compact filling. If you’re lucky, you might even get some which just out from the oven. Best!

Didn’t really like the Penang Road cendol – had better in Melaka…or here. Love all the seafood dishes…look like to die for! Drool! But, btw…those are not escargots – they’re balitongs, snails no doubt. One of my uncles (RIP) called them monkey’s penis… Eyewwww!!!!!!
There is no dipping sauce for the octopus ?
