Eat, Laugh & Share at Italiannies
Last weekend, Saucer and I were walking around The Curve, looking for lunch. My first suggestion was to have it at the Ikea food court, those meatballs are yum! But once we were there, the food court was so very packed with tables all occupied, and the ambience was just too noisy. Definitely not the way we wanted to start our day (it was our first meal
). So we left and continued walking and Saucer suggested Italiannies! We haven’t been to Italiannies for quite some time now and it was quite a refreshing suggestion.

Complimentary Focaccia and Tuscan bread
I love that Italiannies still maintains the complimentary bread service at the beginning of every meal. The Tuscan bread that we had was fresh, soft and warm, exactly how I’d love my bread to be. I ate the Focaccia with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and left the Tuscan for our soup later.

Our first order was the a bowl of Minestrone Soup, which is Saucer’s favourite. He had always ordered this during our past visits to Italiannies as well, and I can see why. The tomato-based soup was very appetizing with lots of tomato chunks, carrots, potatoes, onions and herbs. I liked that it was not overly sour as I couldn’t take things too sour, and it was served piping hot! It gave us the feeling that the soup was boiled just before this for us.
This soup is served in 2 sizes, either a cup or a bowl. A cup is more like the normal size of soup bowl that you get from other restaurants outside, whereas a bowl is served in a large bowl good for 2 persons.

Next up was the Sicilian Chicken Caesar Salad. Oh yes, we were being very healthy that day, weren’t we? *LOL* This chicken salad came with juicy and tender steamed chicken meat, plenty of Romaine lettuce, tomatoes and croutons. What made this salad even more special and healthy was the addition of fruits! There were generous sprinkles of mango bits and grapes, and they’re all so sweet! I felt that the addition of these sweet fruits definitely balanced out the tangy salad leaves, not to mention the added benefits of vitamins.

Not into minestrone…and pasta, I prefer carbonara or bolognese…. Love the place though – looks very Mediterranean, very Italian…but the diners are all so casually-dressed.
