RM10++ for 4 mooncakes – Ramadan Special Set at Sime Darby Convention Centre
Yes, you read it right! See the moon cakes and the pretty wooden box below? Four moon cakes AND the box could be yours for only RM10++! This is made possible by Sime Darby Convention Centre’s Ramadan Special Set available throughout the month of Ramadan.

Moon cakes and lovely box
I had the chance to visit SDCC’s China Treasures for the Ramadan Special Set last week, which also happened to be my maiden visit to SDCC. I have to say I love that SDCC had ample parking space and it’s free! The Chinese restaurant located on the first floor was called China Treasures, and the interior was grand and tidy, with hues of gold and yellow.

Grand table setting
We were booked for a private room for 10, and the table setting was just as impressive as the antiques decorating the restaurant.

Setting for one

Spoon and chopsticks
The room had a very Chinese feel to it, with cherry blossom painting at one end.

Chrysanthemum as table decoration

The restaurant dining area

Vase with dragon

Bamboo paintings

Award-winning China Treasures

Various types of tea leaves
After having a tour of the restaurant, we were served with, guess what? Yee Sang! Yes, you heard me right! China Treasures has creatively incorporated “Yee Sang” which is traditionally a Chinese celebration dish, into the Ramadan Special Set. I thought this was pretty catchy and interesting. Of course, it helped that I love “Yee Sang” too!

Chilli and sauces

Nuts for appetizers

Ramadan “Yee Sang”
The Ramadan “Yee Sang” looked just like any other “Yee Sang”, except that they incorporated Dates in the mixture. The slices of dates can be seen from the picture above, surrounding the circle in the middle. I thought this was pretty genius because the Chinese eat “Yee Sang” as an appetizer, and the Malays break their fast with dates before their meals, so the combination of the two was just perfect! Plus, the dates gave the “Yee Sang” a sweet tinge to it.
