Kendal Makes Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding

If there’s one thing that we remember the most during our trip to Australia, it was Kendal’s hospitality. Kendal is Saucer’s colleague over in Australia and during our holiday there, he was our host for 2 weekends. What’s even more amazing is his kids and lovely wife, Tracey. Together, their warmth and laughter definitely made us feel more than at home. :) On the first night, we had Roast Lamb and vegetables for dinner.

Lovely table setting

I just loved the idea of eating hot food in the cold winter, accompanied by romantic candle lights and more importantly, joyful company.

Slow-cooked roast lamb

The lamb was soft and tender, with traces of rosemary and very aromatic! It filled the whole house with the smell of herbs and spices, the kind of home you’d want to go home to every day.

Look at the nice spread of home cooked food we had.

My plate

Of course, I had second servings of those wonderful lamb! *LOL* While we were enjoying dinner, something was baking in the oven. The unmistakable smell of chocolate cake floated through the air to our very noses, making us want to finish our dinner even faster. Kendal had made us his signature Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding, a recipe from his grandmother! It’s so legendary and like no other, we’re definitely honoured to have the chance to savour it.

Look at the sauce oozing out from underneath the pudding. Bliss!

A piece for me please!

It’s perfect to go with either milk or ice-cream. Being me, ice-cream was the definite choice. :)

Ah, it was definitely the sweet touch I needed to end the lovely dinner. Excellent!

Since I’m writing about our meals at Kendal’s, let me share with you some other food that we had there. This was a bowl of oatmeal that they call as porridge, with some whole bran on top. I never like oatmeal before because of a peculiar smell it emits, but somehow, the oatmeal there was odourless. In fact, it tasted so good with the addition of brown sugar and all-bran that I began to look at oatmeal from a whole new angle!

And then, dinner for the next day was Mexican! We had nachos and burritos, yum!

We got to make our own burritos, so it was pretty fun! We made burritos for each other, piling up on the ingredients and the chicken.

That was our dinner before our road trip to a beautiful place up north. *wink* Promise it will be up in the next post!
