Drool-worthy Claypot Salted Fish Pork at Jia Kampar
I was back in Kampar a few weekends ago to visit my family and as usual, we would all gather for dinner during one of the nights. This time, we picked Jia Kampar which has been around for a couple of years and is no stranger to the locals.

“Kar Hou Yuet Yun”
The restaurant is always packed especially during weekends, so making a reservation would be a good idea.

Every time we visit this place, my grandpa would never fail to order their Clay pot Salted Fish Pork (Ham Yu Fa Lam in Cantonese). I was never a fan of this dish, but after eating it at Jia Kampar for a good few times now, I’m starting to fall in love with it! The aroma of salted fish was unmistakable, and the pork slices were thin and flavourful. This was extremely good with rice, as it opened up our appetite. My grandpa always said, “Just order this dish for me and I’m good for dinner”. *LOL*

Another of my favourite dish is the Spinach soup, boiled with lots of spinach, anchovies and some century eggs. The soup was one of the thicker ones, savoury and a rich of anchovies’ taste.

The Ginger Onion Fish Fillet was fried using Grouper fish, which was fresh and firm. This was one of the signature dishes at Jia Kampar, since we saw quite a few other tables ordering it.

The Minced meat Bean Curd was absolutely lovely! Savoury and appetizing minced meat on top of home-made soft and smooth bean curd. I could have eaten half of this portion on my own!

Guess what? We don’t have to drive all the way to Ipoh to get our fix of Salted Chicken, for Jia Kampar also serves that!

Pork ribs (Pai Kuat Wong) here was just average, nothing stellar since I found them a tad too dry.

Last but not least, the 4 Kings dish! A mixture of 4 different types of vegetables (brinjal, long beans, lady’s fingers and four-angled beans) cooked with sambal for that extra spicy kick!

This restaurant is a worth contender for the famous and legendary Kam Ling restaurant in Kampar, for normal rice and dinner dishes. All of the dishes were served at reasonably large portion and above average quality. The bill for all the dishes above with rice and drinks came to about RM160 for 13 people!
