Best of Pappa Rich
We were at The Palette again the other day, while bringing Wai Lian around. He was pretty excited and thrilled with the colourful lighting of the area, being a photography buff himself. We took many shots here, because I just loved the colours!

We then walked around the area, looking for supper. And we found Pappa Rich! It’s one of the relatively new outlets there, and it has been getting brisk business every night! Yes, even on week nights. Pretty amazing huh?

But I love this branch of Pappa Rich though. It’s more spacious, with more tables and very airy especially when you sit outside during night time. Parking is plentiful too, for now, because quite a number of shop lots are still not occupied yet.

Is this Pappa really rich?
OK, I’m sure Pappa Rich is no stranger to most people especially in Klang Valley, but what should you order when you visit Pappa Rich? Their menu is filled with lots of dishes and drinks (not cheap too), but if you’re going there for a light snack, then you simply must not miss the following!
1. Iced Coffee
I’m not a fan of coffee but I have heard just so many good comments about Pappa Rich’s coffee that I simply must list it as one of the ‘must-order’. Even Wai Lian, who’s an avid coffee drinker gave his thumbs-up for this, so did Saucer, some friends from my gym and a few of my colleagues at work. So I guess, majority wins? If you’re a coffee lover, please try this out and let me know if you love it too!

2. Iced Teh Tarik
As for me, my alternative would be the Iced Tea or ‘Teh’, which is actually the combination of tea and milk. I found the Teh here to be thicker and creamier, and not as sweet! In fact, I didn’t think it was sweet at all. I could taste more of the tea and milk flavour, which is good. Comparing this to the other ‘kopitiam’ we all know about, this definitely wins hands down. Bigger cup, thicker and frothier.

3. Steamed Bread with Kaya and Butter
Last but not least, the steamed bread here is to die for! Seriously, I never failed to order this whenever I visit Pappa Rich, be it for a heavy or light meal. Eat it when it’s just served, so it’d be steaming hot, sometimes even too hot for the fingers to handle. But no matter! Watching the butter melt on the bread, blending it with the delicious kaya, and at the end placing it in my mouth while it’s still warm – it’s all worth it! Don’t miss this out!

We had one more type of bread that night, but we didn’t think it was that good to make it into the ‘best of’. It was the Toasted bread with Butter and Condensed Milk. Looks good on the picture, really, but I found it too sweet. Also, the bread didn’t seem so fresh. You could tell especially after it’s cold, the sides of the bread became crumbly and dry.

There you have it! The Best of Pappa Rich! Never failed with any of my friends whenever we visit it. OK I can sense some people saying ‘I can also make steamed bread at home!’, oh yes you can. But I’m talking about the whole package here, the atmosphere, the ambience and the company.

Did you try the steamed bread??
Pappa Rich, the new generation of Old Town… i like the bread better…thick but light… my fav being the 2 that u ordered above… i think i prefer the Old Town main menu of dishes though – more reasonable too.. but it’s good to have a change… however can see Pappa Rich taking over the town soon… who’s going to be next…
.-= lechua´s last blog ..A Wedding at 32 Mansion Penang =-.
LOL! Who’s going to be next I wonder too!
Yes, the breads at Pappa Rich are certainly better than the other kopitiams.
But coffee and tea wise … well, I’d say not as astounding.

Seeing that we already happen to be discussing points regarding Pappa Rich new outlet at Puchong Jaya | iamthewitch.com, “paying it forward.” You’ve heard of that, haven’t you? If not, do a web search for it and you’ll see what I mean.
My fave order is their iced kopi Milo cham – delish!
