East Wang Zhao Kopitiam, Puchong Jaya
A short post today, on a place not very well-known, yet very close to my heart. Literally. This is a coffee shop that Saucer and I go most of the time for dinner or supper, if we have nothing planned. It is close to where we stay and it serves some mean porridge and Chinese dishes. East Wang Zhao Kopitiam is the name of the shop, recently refurbished and tarred the outdoor seating area which used to be a piece of sandy and muddy land.

Saucer was the one who first discovered this shop when we just moved in to Puchong last year. His first trial dish was ‘Kam Heong Yu Pin fan’ or ‘Kam Heong’ fish fillet rice, from a ‘siu chow’ stall in front of the coffee shop. Ever since then, he was hooked! We’ve ordered the same dish during more than 50% of our visits so far, and we’re never disappointed. The fish fillets were meaty, generous and full of flavour! I’m serious, you could smell the dish even from afar.

It’s a little spicy but that’s what makes it so very appetizing. You have to be careful not to eat into those fiery bird’s eye chilli though, or you might find yourself sweating away like Saucer usually does. *LOL* This is one recommended dish that no one will say no to, I’m sure.

Generous and fleshy fish fillet
Wai Lian had the Cantonese fried yee mee, which came in a huge portion. Hailing from Penang, he was not used to the huge portions that KL stalls serve. I don’t blame him, as Penang hawker stalls serve relatively smaller portions of food. This plate of noodles was ordered from the same ‘siew chow’ stall as above, and received 2 thumbs-up from him. He had only good comments on the noodles and finished every single bit of it. Maybe I should give this a try on my next visit.

Saucer, as usual, ordered his favourite porridge. The porridge stall is just in front of the ‘siew chow’ stall and is pretty well-known there. The porridge is smooth, savoury and very delicious! Even I, who is not a fan of porridge, don’t mind eating a whole bowl of this. Recommended ones are Century Egg and Pork porridge and Fish fillet porridge.

Last but not least, I tried one of the new stalls there that was selling Chee Cheong Fun. This was just average, with bland curry that didn’t really go well with the chee cheong fun. I don’t think I would try this stall again. I’d much prefer the porridge or fish fillet!
