TGIF’s Tex-Mex: The Taste of Texas, The Passion of Mexico
When Ken informed me about the latest Tex-Mex promotion by TGIF, I couldn’t resist to give it a try since I love Mexican Tacos! And so the date was set. We arrived just in time before the mains were served and I was pleased to see my favourite tacos there.

TGI Friday’s at Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas
Before we ate, Saucer and I both ordered a Gold Mango Margarita which was a refreshing blend of ripe mango pureed with tart lime juice and shaken with tequila and triple sec. “Shaken, not stirred”. Familiar? This cocktail is also available without alcohol to cater to non-alcohol customers. As usual, Saucer’s face became red after a few sips. *LOL*

Gold Mango Margarita (RM17.90)
The first main dish served was the SOL Ribeye Asada, a slab of tender char grilled rib eye steak marinated in SOL beer served with chipotle lime butter and oven roasted potatoes, onions and peppers. This steak was served medium done, and it was really tender. Not tough and no gamey taste, I wish I could have more of it. But it was wiped out within seconds, I kid you not.

SOL Ribeye Asada (RM47.90)
Next up was the Tilapia Vera Cruz, a plate of Sauteed Tilapia fish fillets simmered with tomatoes, spices and spicy peppers, capers and olives. This was served with a side of herb rice. The fish was flaky and still a little crispy at the edges, just the way I like it. The gravy was tangy and appetizing, which went very well with the herb rice. Portion was huge too!

Tilapia Vera Cruz (RM25.90)
The Chicken Ranchero Tacos was one of my favourites that night – Tender slow simmered chicken mixed with spicy Ranchero tomato sauce, Monterey Jack cheese stuffed in soft tortillas and topped with corn, black bean pico de gallo and shredded cheese. This was a pretty delightful dish for me since the filling of cheese, tomato and chicken resulted in a zesty and savoury combination to the otherwise bland tortilla. A healthy dinner option too!

Chicken Ranchero Tacos (RM22.90)
The Chicken with Peppers and Mushrooms had a huge and meaty slice of chicken breast simmered with sweet and spicy peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, capers and olives. Can you already tell the similarities in all these Mexican dishes yet? Peppers and tomatoes are almost always there. Saucer loves them.

Chicken with Peppers and Mushrooms (RM26.90)
The final main dish was one of TGIF’s signature Beef Ribs. This full rack of beef is expertly cooked to ensure they’re fall-off-the-bone tender. They are then fire frilled and glazed with their tangy BBQ sauce which was pungent even from afar. I tested the ribs, and yes, they really came off the bone very easily!

Beef ribs (RM52.90)
Last but not least, we had 2 types of dessert – The Brownie Obsession and the Dessert Minis. I had long tried Brownie Obsession before and was obsessed with it, even when I was back in Penang. This, and the Chocolate Mudpie were my favourite desserts in TGIF. The warm brownie was covered in chocolate-fudge sauce, vanilla ice-cream, caramel sauce and pecans. Simply decadent!

Brownie Obsession (RM13.90)
The dessert minis are perfect for those who might be watching their diet. Comes in the shot glass size, these desserts are big enough to make you full, yet small enough to keep you craving for more. I particularly loved the Snickers one the most. Best enjoyed when it’s still chilled.

CW: Chocolate Oreo® Mint Crunch, Snickers® Treat, Strawberry Parfait, Mocha Latte, Tropical Delight (RM3.90/each)

Enjoying a cup of iced lemon tea at Friday’s
To Saucer, a meal at TGIF wouldn’t be complete without his dose of Mudslide – a chocolate milkshake drink with Kahlua. *yum*

As usual, Friday’s was a place where all of us could kick back and relax after a long day’s work. The atmosphere and staff were just always smiley and cheery. This is just one of the many reasons that I would come back and dine again.

In here, it’s always FRIDAY!
The Tex-Mex promotion will run for three months until end June. To create additional excitement and offer the guests a truly Tex-Mex dining experience, all TGI Friday’s restaurants are decorated with a Mexican theme from 15th April until 14th May 2010.
The Tex-Mex promotion is available at all TGI Friday’s outlets throughout Malaysia. For more information, please visit www.fridays.com.my or join TGI Friday’s Malaysia Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/fridays.com.my to receive updates.

I had the same tilapia last week, for I like grilled fish. Kinda lessen the guilt of over-indulging. Kinda bland, but just the way I like them to be.

Thank you so much, this was a good read. I was actually born in Spain (I’m not telling you when though!) but was moved around various parts of europe and lastly settled in the UK when I was 7. I dont remember an awful lot of the few years I was in spain, but the smell of spanish food always seems to get me going or something. Funny, how I dont remember anything except the smells, isn’t it! I even found a internet site dedicated to spanish recipe, which gave me great delight and thought I really should to share with your readers. Anyway, thank you again. I’ll get my husband to add your website to my rss thing…
