1Malaysia Buffet at The Saujana Kuala Lumpur
With the advent of 1Malaysia campaign announced by our Prime Minister, recently The Saujana Kuala Lumpur has taken heed too, by introducing a 1Malaysia buffet that incorporates our local cuisines from all races. Suria Cafe was the restaurant that was hosting the buffet, and upon entering the place, I was overcome with a sense of rustic and traditional atmosphere.

The dining ambience was very soothing with the sounds of water flowing from the mini fountain nearby.

Comfortable ambience
Without further ado, I went around to browse the types of food available that night.
From the Main buffet table:

Kerabu Mango muda

Baked fish

Wok-fried slice beef with ginger and cilantro

Baked lamb leg with percik sauce
I particularly liked the stir-fried prawns with curry leaves as I found them to be very fragrant and succulent! No price guessing who went for second serving of these.

Stir-fried prawns with curry leaf in Chinese style

Kari Ketam masak mamak style (Mamak-styled Crabs curry)

Black nut chicken in baba nyonya style
Another noteworthy dish was the Penang style mamak noodles! I took a few strands to try during my first plate, and I thought it was delicious! I went back again during my second plate and took more of those. *LOL* Definitely reminded me of good old Penang.

Penang style fried mamak mee with seafood

Various condiments
The murtabak was a hit among us too, with Richard raving about it just after his first bite. *LOL* It was perfect with the Dhal and curry by the side.

Indian counter(from top): roti canai, murtabak, ???, tosai

Dhal

Papadaam and vadai

Roti jala
If you love BBQ fish, you could pick from a variety of raw marinated fish from the selection and ask the cook to BBQ for you on the spot.

Fish to be barbequed

And the star dish of the night! The awesome awesome chicken satay! The unassuming satay had me taking only a few sticks at first, but my gosh! The chicken was so fabulous! Juicy and tender and so well marinated! I totally recommended it to everyone I saw that night. *LOL* I ended up having close to 10 sticks that night! At least.

Amazing satay – beef and chicken
The Chinese corner had some dim sum selection.

Chinese dim sum

Chinese mixed cold food salad platter

Grilled shitake mushroom and mussel with mayo
Desserts:
And last but not least, desserts!

Dessert bar
Lots to choose from ranging from ‘tong sui’, ice kacang, ice-cream, cakes, pastries and much more!

Tong sui

Various kuih

Ice kacang

“Ang ku”

Pulut panggang (Glutinous rice with coconut filling)
It was one of the most filling and meaningful buffet I ate as it reminded me of the various cuisines Malaysia has. I’m definitely loving the satay to bits!

Oh really? I didn’t know buffet is so common at the Phillipines!
oh my all the dishes you have posted here are so tempting
LOL! Makes you feel like eating eh?
hmmm, don’t you think the term “1Malaysia” is somehow too widely abused already?? seems like everything a merchant is trying to promote will link to this concept.. anyway, so this 1Malaysia buffet, anything special or different from those normal “local cuisine” buffet that’s available throughout the year in all hotels??
.-= [SK]´s last blog ..20.04.2010 | 無聊玩樂 =-.
Well I find that most hotels now like to offer International buffets or themed buffets (japanese, seafood, etc) instead of our local cuisine. So having local cuisine buffet once in a while definitely brings back good memories
Now everything also 1Malaysia! All copy from 1Utama one, haha!

Hahaa 1 Utama!
Maybe they get royalty
Agree with SK. The 1xxxxxxx name is overused.
You know, I am a shutterbug. Photography is about creativity. These people who use the 1xxxxxxx name aren’t creative.
.-= khengsiong´s last blog ..From Telephoto to Wide-Angle =-.
Haha well not everyone can be creative.. I think I’m one of those who are not, sadly
The black nut chicken.. We call them Ayam Buah Kluak.. SHIOK! Nyonya must have!!!!! But then, many people find it weird. It’s either you love it or you dont!
I LOVE IT!
.-= Merryn´s last blog ..Cute Maternity Clothes =-.
Wah so you know how to make this chicken or not?
Eh, why desserts only show last? When I go buffet, I walk over to the dessert section first! If not good, I leave! No need to see other food oredy! Hahaha!!
.-= foongpc´s last blog ..The Harmony Hotel In Bali =-.
Haha I Know you love dessert so much! But I have to place the pictures in the proper order so that people will not get confused
So far I like buffet in Shangri-la – my favorite of all hotel buffets!! So when want to go? : )
.-= foongpc´s last blog ..The Harmony Hotel In Bali =-.
Oooh Shangrila! I only tried the buffet breakfast before when I stayed in Singapore and Putrajaya Shangrila
Sure we can go one day!
Actually I prefer international buffet, not 1Malaysia buffet! LOL!
.-= foongpc´s last blog ..The Harmony Hotel In Bali =-.
Well, a mixture of both works well with me
Like the “pond” and the kerabu mangga had my saliva drooling liao

i crave for malay food now….
Go eat Malay food for lunch!
1Malaysia? Whr’s the Kelantanese food, Johor ( laksa ) & Perak (ipoh hor fun) ? ;p
I believe the 1Malaysia concept is to unite the races as opposed to states.
So they showcased cuisines of the main races in Malaysia instead
???? that refers to idli
