A Night at The Palette, Puchong – the new Happening place!

As someone staying in Puchong, I somehow feel the responsibility to make it a more well-known place once in a while. :) After all, everyone has the notion that Puchong is some place which is famous for the jam and the toll! Well, that aside, Puchong has much more to offer! Case in point is the up and coming trendy “The Palette” situated at the Puchong centre itself, just opposite IOI Mall. It is a row of shop lots filled with mostly hip restaurants, bars, desserts place and coffee! One fine evening, I suggested to Saucer to go and have a try at the Palette.

Love the lights and colours welcoming us at the entrance. And the bright and cheerful floor too! Apparently Colgate was here for its latest ad! So now you know where the ad was filmed when you see it on TV next time. :)

I loved the wide and airy walkway at The Palette, making one feel comfortable and open. There’s also a good ventilation system here, so one wouldn’t have to sweat like a tap when walking along this walkway.

After walking for a few minutes to survey the available restaurants, we decided to enter Kissaten. To be frank, I’m not sure what type of cuisine Kissaten is focusing on – Japanese? Italian? Western? I found the menu to be very diversified so I wasn’t sure what to order.

In the end, I settled for Seafood Spaghetti in tomato sauce. The dish arrived piping hot, which was a huge plus for me. I liked the al dente pasta, but not so much of the sour and somewhat bland tomato gravy. It would have been better if it was more savoury. The seafood was fresh though and I spotted about 3-4 prawns inside.

Saucer opted for the Unagi Don, which came with two full pieces of unagi. I thought the unagi was fleshy and delicious. But at RM24.90, Saucer thought it was slightly pricey.

After dinner, we walked to the new coffee joint just next door – the Pacific Coffee Company! We first saw this coffee shop while we were in Hong Kong, and even tried a cup there too. That’s why when we saw the same shop opening in Puchong, we were so excited and went in to give it a try.

The interior of the shop was huge and comfortable, with dim lights and soothing music. There were also plenty of magazines on the magazine rack, perfect for a quiet night out with that perfect cup of coffee.

We placed an order for a Chillino (ice-blended coffee) and a Chocolate Damnation Cake (what a name!) and looked for a seat.

Oh I forgot to mention that Pacific Coffee Company also has an area with computers for the patrons to go online! So cool huh? I applaud the fact that they actually provide free internet service to the patrons!

The environment aside, the Chillino that we had that night was below par. The ice was just not crushed properly so we actually had problem drinking it with a straw. The cake looked decadent! But it would have been better if it was warm with the liquid chocolate flowing out from the middle, just like a volcano, no? :)

Overall, I love what the developers have done with The Palette. Although there are still many unopened shops, I can foresee this place to be the next happening joint in town, along the likes of Bangsar or Jaya One. Do check out this place whenever you pass by Puchong, who knows you might discover some interesting hidden gems? :)
