My Escapade to China (Xi Tang) – Part 4
The next morning at Xi Tang, we were awaken by the sound of river and village coming to life. Sounds of boats passing by, of people chatting, of footsteps. It was just lively and happy. Not to mention we had a beautiful view to wake up to.

Morning boat passing by
The place that we stayed in was really strategic and clean. I can’t read Chinese so all I could do was to snap the picture of their ‘signboard’, in case you would like to stay overnight at Xi Tang. I believe this would be one of the best places to stay in, after scouting for countless of rooms the night before.

After getting ready, we all walked out searching for breakfast. Thanks to Zhao Lei who did homework, we went for breakfast with a mission! He wanted to bring us to the wantan stall which he deemed to have the thinnest skin ever. Look, the skin was almost translucent! The wantan, even though small, was extremely smooth. And it was served with steaming hot soup, perfect for the cold morning weather.

Besides that, we had the Chinese crullers too! I love!!!
The Chinese crullers were extremely crispy and huge! And it was only RMB1 (RM0.50) each. I had two of those.

Meat dumpling – just so so, not much of a meat inside

The famous wantan stall
Stomachs full, we then proceeded to tour around the town in daylight. The atmosphere was very different from the night before, with many stalls opened and all very colourful.

Trying on a furry cap

and a locally made skirt and jacket!
Zhao Jie fell in love with the skirt that I was wearing and tried for herself too. She simply couldn’t let go of it! *LOL* It was quite pricey too, around RMB200+ (RM100+) because it was handmade and unique. She didn’t get it in the end, but I bought it for her secretly in the end to surprise her.

Another thing I love about Xi Tang is the strawberries! Oh my, they are the sweetest strawberries that I’ve ever tasted! Coming from Malaysia, the only strawberries I’ve ever tasted are those from Cameron Highlands and they’re ever so sour! Therefore, I never had a liking towards strawberries, thinking that ALL strawberries are sour. But the ones here proved me wrong. They’re so fresh and sweet, I kept asking for more!

More pictures of the sights in scenic ancient village Xi Tang that we all fell in love with!

Soon, Zhao Lei led us to another nearby attraction which was apparently a famous place due to it’s very narrow pathway. He said the pathway was barely 2 feet wide! Of course, I need translation again, thank you.

I can read the first word – Rock/Stone

Saw this along the way

We left Xi Tang soon after that, heading towards Shanghai, with a heavy heart. It was truly a different world of its own, with the people, the sounds and the sights. I’m definitely missing it!

Xi Tang is potentially a good location for shooting kungfu movies. In the narrow pathway, the hero (or the villain) climbs up the walls with two legs on either side, LOL…
