House of Tang Curry Fish Head for RM13.80!

Curry fish head, a prominent Malaysian dish appealing to both the young and old alike, is making a debut at House of Tang! When I heard the good news, I couldn’t stop myself from making my way there, especially when I heard that the promotion for Curry Fish Head is currently at RM13.80 per set! RM13.80? That’s definitely the cheapest curry fish head that I have ever heard of, considering even Penang or Kampar.

Eager to find out about the Curry Fish Head deal? Patience my friends… Let me also show you how to get a gorgeous plate of Red Yeast Rice Rolls with Prawns FREE! For those of you who read my previous House Of Tang post before, we were only aware of their dinner dishes which were fantastic with a home-cooked touch to them. Now, House of Tang has ventured into the Dim Sum cuisine as well, with plentiful of unique and fabulous choices without losing the homey touch!

Spring Rolls with Salad and Prawns

The spring rolls arrived with such a strong aroma that one couldn’t resist from taking a bite!

Soup-filled Dumplings with Goji (wolfberry)

The soup-filled dumplings or xiao long bao passed the chopstick test with flying colours! Someone (I forgot who) had to hold it with a chopstick and wait for all the photographers to finish shooting, and the dumpling withstood the test of time! *LOL* Bite into it for a splurt of warm flavourful soup with tender meat fillings.

Passed the test!

Pan fried carrot cake – my must-order dish whenever I have dim sum! Crispy golden skin with soft and warm interior.

The sticky rice here was presented differently inside a bun. Unique indeed!

Homey Sticky Rice Rolls

The portion is huge so it’s good to share a piece with a friend, not unless you want to fill up your tummy and miss out on so many other good things! ;)

Huge piece of dim sum

Of course, I couldn’t miss the standard shrimp dumpling order, which is the epitome of dim sum. Fortunately, the shrimp here was succulent and huge, with a translucent layer of skin enclosing it. Well done!

For a taste of Hong Kong, House of Tang also prepares Rice Rolls with You Tiao, which goes well with soy sauce. Anything with you tiao also goes well with me, if you ask me. ;)

Sizzling marinate meat bun was something new that I tasted. The bun had a layer of slight crispy skin at the bottom and inside was a filling of meat and vegetables. Pretty aromatic and delicious, especially with the sesame seeds on top.

Siew mai is yet another classic dim sum order, and lately most restaurants are teaming siew mai with ebiko. I think it not only makes the presentation better, it also makes the taste more delicious! I just love biting into those small crunchy orange eggs. :)

Unagi puff came smelling rich of pastry goodness, not to mention the aroma of unagi itself. This new dish is unique and tasty, contrary to the common char siew/pork filling. You should try it!

And now, for the FREE item that I was talking about, the Red Yeast Rice Rolls with Prawns is not for sale in House of Tang. Yes, you read it right! Patrons, however, can have it for free when they order 3 plates of dim sum. But only ONE plate is given free per table, so make sure you utilize this free gift with care. :) The outlook of this dim sum alone is enough to attract me! Coloured like salmon but it’s not. And full of shrimp goodness inside. :)

For desserts, I couldn’t keep my hands of the cute little pink piglets! Oh so adorable! It’s actually lotus paste buns but I’m sure most girls would not want to eat those cute little things. :)

Herbal jelly with ginseng roots was served cold and was a refreshing finish to the dim sum.

And saving the best for the last, I present to you the STAR DISH of the day! Curry Fish Head! These were the ingredients used before the fish was cooked. Note the abundance  of  vegetables, herbs and spices!

When the pot of curry fish head was presented to us, our senses perked immediately! The curry was so aromatic that it would open up anyone’s appetite, even those of a full stomach, I kid you not. The chef didn’t skimp on the ingredients at all and the curry turned out to be fantabulous. If I wasn’t that full, I could have finished 2 bowls of rice. :P

Within minutes, the claypot was cleared! And guess what? This only costs a mere RM13.80 per pot! Isn’t that such a steal? For this portion, it can serve 2 persons easily. Not to mention that this is a bungalow restaurant located in the heart of Bangsar. I assure you, you won’t get deals as good as this else where.
