Sanyo Xacti launching dinner at Chinois & full HD video
After the Sanyo Xacti press conference, the group of us bloggers had about 2 hours of free time to kill while waiting for dinner. Being at the newly opened Resorts World, of course we couldn’t help from doing some sightseeing and possibly some shopping!
Our first stop was at Hard Rock Hotel Singapore!

Then we proceeded to the casino. The place was really crowded and warm. I suppose I’ve always associated casino with Genting that being in a warm environment just didn’t seem right.
But the architecture here is so much grander, and there’s constant music playing in the background. Very similar to being in Disneyland! *LOL* Except that there are not Disney characters.

Next stop was at Universal Studios! Fine, it was not opened yet when we were there, but we took a peek inside from the outside and it really was cute!

Giant Hershey’s store!

Lots and lots of Hershey’s chocolate
We also managed to catch a salsa performance just nearby the chocolate store. Very talented dancers! But again, the weather was a little warm so it was not a very comfortable experience watching the show while sweating.

Soon, it was time for dinner at Chinois, Hotel Michael.

We were there early so we took the time to explore and found out there was a mini studio outside the restaurant set up for taking pictures with the models! So wonderfully gorgeous!

Menu for the night
We started our dinner with drinks, and I mean drinks in plural! Each of us had at least 3 types of drinks! Who could resist when we had the choice of red wine, white wine, beer, champagne, fresh fruit juices (watermelon, orange, apple or strawberry!) and tea? Really, we were spoilt!

The variety of drinks

Our first course soon arrived – Chilled Momotaro Tomato Salad topped with Sake marinated Confit of Lobster! And I can tell you, I really tasted sake inside! And the piece of lobster on top was just succulent and fresh.

Next dish was my personal favourite and the most extravagant of all – Double-boiled Shark’s fin with Sea Treasures served in Coconut. The idea of serving in a coconut shell was new but it was oh-so-fragrant! I kept sniffing the smell of the soup and the coconut aroma really stood out! Heavenly!

Not to mention the sea treasures found inside the soup. Oh my goodness there was a freaking whole abalone inside! So very tender, juicy and full of flavour.

Abalone in the soup
Did I mention there was PLENTY of shark’s fin inside? And this was not even the typical type of shark’s fin that looked like agar-agar. It was authentic and real. And there were at least 4 spoons of what I showed in the picture below. Ah, this soup was definitely the ultimate art of culinary.

Shark’s fin
After having the more than satisfying shark’s fin soup, I thought nothing would excite my taste buds anymore but Chinois outdid themselves with the Crisp-fried Fillet of Marble Goby served with Mixed Green salad and Mint leaves. The fish was so fragrant and crispy, not to mention deliciously fresh inside. It was a definite contrast to the previous soup but it only made the fish taste so much better.

Next up was the Pan-seared Australian wagyu beef with Foie Gras. Eating the foie gras with wagyu beef gave a whole new meaning on steak. The foie gras was a little on the salty side but it was so soft that when it melted with the beef, the combination was perfect.

Second last dish of the night was Braised Mee Sua in Noble Tan Fu Sauce served with Freshly-peeled Crab Claw. Yes, you read it right – freshly-peeled crab claw! It was definitely my first time eating crab claw without having to peel it! And it was huge! Chinois really knows how to make its customers happy and satiated.

Last but not least, Gratin of Assorted Berries and Fruits in Passion Fruit Sabayon was served as dessert. This was probably the only dish that I didn’t really enjoy, because I don’t fancy anything sour!
There were plenty of berries in this dessert including raspberries and blueberries, all huge and juicy. But I enjoyed the green-tea mousse on the side very much!

It was definitely a very enjoyable dinner with fun and laughter, especially with the new friends made from the Malaysian media group.

Some memorabilia that night
We had such a great time attending the dinner, not to mention experiencing first hand the wonderful Sanyo Xacti gadget, all thanks to Nick Lew.

And now, for the video that you waited! This was taken during the dinner itself, when everyone was high on alcohol and started talking loudly.
Video was taken with full HD format but I had to resize to upload it in Youtube. Check out the clarity even at very low light, as well as the zoom function. But pardon my lack of skills in video-shooting ok!
