My Honeymoon at Maldives – Part 2

Speaking of Part 1 at Maldives, I managed to find the picture of where I filled in my check-in form at the reception. Did you notice a leaf on my form? On that leaf was written my name! How cute!

Here are some more pictures of our beach villa, taken from the outside. This is the view from the villa patio, where you could see the hammock hanging, and the comfy couch next to it.

The next morning, we woke up at about 7.30am for breakfast. The walk from our villa to the restaurant took about 5 minutes, plus some extra time for camwhoring. *LOL*

Since we were planning to do water activities (duh) after breakfast, we took our towels along, provided by the resort. Look at the size of the blue towel I was carrying! It was gigantic ok! I super love it. :)

Along the way, we spotted glimpses of the blue sea, awaiting. :)

Before we knew it, we saw what looked like 2 giant coconuts! That was where the restaurant was located. Such unique design but so apt. Tropical country, this is indeed.

IMG_3976

Walking towards the restaurant

Buffet breakfast was included in the resort package, and the choice of food was pretty standard every day. Bacon, sausages, omelette, toasts, porridge, noodles, pancakes, pastries, cereal, fruits, yogurt and juices were prepared daily.

Saucer’s plate

We chose to sit outside, with the sea view. This was what we saw from our table.

In the middle of our meal, we were caught by another pleasant surprise by the staff at Kandooma. An immaculately dressed waiter came over, carrying a tray with a bottle of champagne and two glasses. He confirmed our room number with us, and told us that the champagne was compliments from the hotel, for our honeymoon! So very sweet of them! We looked around and saw that we’re the only table with the champagne, and felt very special. :) And it was real alcoholic champagne ok, not sparkling juice. *LOL* But drinking champagne in the morning was definitely not something that I was used to!

IMG_3997

Complimentary Champagne

Saucer seem to be pleased with the surprise too. :)

IMG_3987

Happy Saucer

After breakfast, we took a stroll around the reception area and when we went upstairs, we noticed that there were some MAC computers available for the resort guests to surf the internet. Call me noob but I’d never really used a MAC before and I was pretty amazed by its graphics!

IMG_4031

Complimentary internet access

Then, we decided to take a walk at the beautiful beach. But before that, sunblock lotion! That, my friend, is imperative if you do not want to suffer any form of sunburn later on. Saucer didn’t really apply much of sunblock and now he has peeling skin which looks really gross! Not to mention aching skin before that. So, remember that sunblock lotion is a must! Even the people at Kandooma knows this and guess what? There was free sunblock lotion available just by the poolside! How’s that? It’s the first time I ever saw a resort providing sunblock lotion to its guests. :)

IMG_4001

Applying sunblock lotion

When that’s done, we walked to the beach just next to the swimming pool, and were mesmerized. Look at the view, how could one not be blown away by such beautiful sight, such blue sea and such gorgeous sky? Words simply could not describe the fantastic view that we saw. Extremely awesome.

Look at the layers of the sea! You could sea light blue, turquoise to dark blue, indicating the depths of the sea at each level. Simply breath-taking.

Our feet in the water

Ah, I simply couldn’t get enough of the turquoise clear sea. Amazing gift from God.

IMG_4026

Amazing blue sea

After spending enough time admiring the sea, we took a dip in the pool and swam for a good one hour. We swam in the sea for a while too, but the water was too salty! I preferred the pool. :) After all, the pool was just next to the beach, so we could enjoy the view of the beach while swimming in the pool.

IMG_4049

Sitting by the pool

We found the perfect spot to lie on the sunbed, just by the pool and under the coconut trees. Such bliss! Couple that with the sea breeze, it was paradise.

After swimming and resting, we had our lunch at the poolside restaurant, which served mostly Western and Italian food.

IMG_4100

Before each meal, we’re served with a basket of bread and some olive oil plus vinegar. I loved the idea that the restaurant provided complimentary bread and water while we waited for our order, because we’re starving after the swim! *LOL*

IMG_4103

Fresh bread for starters

We ordered a large pizza, with chicken ham, salmon and bacon. The pizza had extremely thin crust, and lots of cheese! I enjoyed it very much, especially more so when I was hungry. :P This cost USD18+10% tax, which translates to about RM70 in total – definitely the most expensive pizza I’ve ever eaten.

IMG_4106

Pizza for lunch

After the filling pizza, it was time for our snorkeling activity! Kandooma provides complimentary snorkeling trip to the nearby house reef daily at 3pm. At 2.45pm, we went to the water sports center to collect our equipment and got ready.

IMG_4118

with life jacket, goggles and fins

The boat ride took only about 5 minutes, and we were once again surrounded by the breath-taking gorgeous sea. We also noticed a nearby resort with many water bungalows. So pretty!

IMG_4116

Water bungalows

Before long, we reached the designated spot for snorkeling and everyone got ready with their gear to jump down. It was my first time snorkeling, and I was quite worried, especially when we’re in the middle of the sea!

IMG_4126

Us getting ready

IMG_4132

All set to go!

And then, we just jumped in! The initial worry and anxiety all went away when I looked down into the sea and was amazed by the beautiful coral and fishes underneath! It was my first time seeing such beautiful creatures so close. It was a pity that I didn’t have a waterproof camera with me or I’d be able to share what I saw. We saw lots of pretty corals with various colors, a variety of fishes including Nemo and Dory! *LOL*

IMG_4135

All ready to snorkel

IMG_4142

Snorkeling at the Kandooma house reefs

The activity lasted about 30 minutes, when the guides started calling everyone back up the boat. To me, it felt like I was only there for 10 minutes! Time flies when you’re having fun yes? We enjoyed the trip so much that we went snorkeling again 2 days later. :)

After the fun-filled day, we walked back to our villa to shower and rest before heading out for dinner.

OK Part 2 ends here people! Are you falling in love with Maldives yet? :)

    haha! Cute coconut shaped restaurant!

Didn’t take pictures of the corals and fishes? What a waste! Where to get water proof cameras? Or is it possible to water proof our LX3 cameras?

Saucer didn’t apply the sunblock? haha! Then he deserves to get burnt! LOL!

    • iamthewitch says:

Yes you can get waterproof cameras, I saw them sold in gift shops. They use films though. As for LX3, I’m not sure if we can waterproof it, but usually there’s a transparent waterproof casing for cameras to be used underwater.
