Wedding ceremony at Kampar
Waking up at 4.30am is no easy feat, especially when you sleep at 1am the night before, but that was what I had to do on my actual wedding day! The appointment for make up was at 5am, and I had to wake up earlier to wash my hair from the night before. *sigh* Luckily I felt much better after the early morning shower, and before long, I was already halfway done on my make up!

Made up eyes
In the middle of the make up session, my aunty from the US called to congratulate me on my big day! I was so surprised and touched, but I couldn’t talk long for I was rushing to be back before 7am!

Call from US aunty
At about 6.40am, the make up was done and the veil was pinned on.

My make up artist, Fancy
I reached home by 6.50am, and guess what? The groom entourage was already there! *Gasp* I was in a panic because I couldn’t let them see me! They’re supposed to reach at 7am, what were they doing so early!! So I had no choice but to call my hubby and told him to drive away first. And I rushed in to get changed! Anyway, I didn’t have to rush because the groom entourage had to go through a series of obstacles before they see me.

Some raw egg mixed with something

Platter of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy stuff!
I’m impressed with what my bridesmaids did with the platter of food! They were cut up so meticulously ok! I was expecting them to just pass the guys one whole bittergourd for them to finish, but they ended up cutting it into such fine pieces! *LOL* Well, what can I say, the guys had it easy!
In the meantime, I was just stuck in my room, with nothing to entertain me. I was so thirsty at one point in time, that I had to use my mobile phone and call the house phone downstairs to get someone to bring me water! *fml*

My nice French manicure
Luckily, the photographer did come and entertain me for a short while, that is, until the groom entourage attacked the house!

Putting on my Charles & Keith sandals
My bridesmaids for the day! I requested for all of them to wear the rose-red coloured dress, but too bad one of them had a slight miss. So we made her the head of bridesmaid! *LOL*

May Foong, Mei Fong, Corinne, Theng, Angie & Szu Ann <3
Don’t they just look gorgeous??
Later on, my parents came up to my room to place the veil over my head.

Placing the veil over my head

Patiently waiting
There was nothing else for me to do but to wait and listen for the arrival of the groom entourage.

Soon enough, I heard car horns booming from afar, and I knew the guys were here.

Our wedding bands
And soon, the games started! I wasn’t watching these first hand, so I could only tell the story from the pictures by Steve. This must have been the raw egg mixture with something. Judging from how Chris looked, it must have been nasty! *LOL*

Drinking raw egg

Gross…
Then came the platter of food to be eaten. Again, I have to say this, the guys did have it easy to eat such a small amount!
Girls, you were all being too kind!

Platter of sweet, sour, bitter and spicy food
The best man, Wailian, took the manly job of brushing his teeth with wasabi! I wonder how spicy the wasabi was, but he didn’t seem to care! That’s what a good heng dai is, eh?

Brushing teeth with wasabi

Do I spot a tear somewhere?
Chris had an attempt eating a spoonful of wasabi too!

Eating wasabi
Looks like the wasabi did turn to be pretty hot.

After effect of wasabi
In the middle of the games, the groomsmen tried to enter the house! Luckily, Angie came to the rescue! *LOL*

Angie coming to the rescue
Games are not over guys! The next in line was the dance! The girls made the guys dance to Single Lady by Beyonce. Haha I definitely want to watch the video of this!

Groomsmen dancing

Ooh sexy move showing butts!
When they passed this stage, the girls had something else in store! Wax strips!!! *LOL* All the guys were given wax strips each and they’re supposed to wax part of their leg hair. This is to show them the painful routine we girls go through just to look good for them! *hmpf*

Peeling of wax strips
I think some of the guys peeled the wax strips really slowly (like Saucer) and hence didn’t get much hair out. They should have just stripped the wax strip off within 1 second! That should inflict more pain. *evil*

Whose hair was this?
There was one more game to be played but unfortunately, the dai kam je (Really party-pooper) rushed them and the girls obediently stopped. Hence, the passing of angpow from the groom!

And finally, the entourage was in!

Saucer entering the house
And soon enough, they’re all outside my room, while Saucer came in to unveil me and pass me the ring and flowers.

And then both of us headed downstairs to start the tea ceremony.

The tea ceremony started with the most elderly and senior members of the house, which are my grandparents.

Followed by my parents. My mom teared a bit that day, and she was embarrassed that the photographer caught her in a picture!

After that, it was tea ceremony for all relatives from all over the place. Last but not least, it was us giving angpows to single siblings and cousins. And more gifts!

A picture with the girls! I really like this shade of red. Looks really good in pictures!

After more family portraits were taken, we were on our way out to the car. My dad held the umbrella for me while my mom was sprinkling rice all over behind me. I wonder what these gestures symbolize?

Walking towards the car

Us in the car
Our journey was from Kampar all the way to Alor Star, approximately a 3-hour drive! My family was smart enough to buy us some snacks and drinks and placed them in the car so that we had something to munch on along the way. God bless them, because that was the only time I ever had the chance to eat something the whole morning!

Picture taken along the tunnel
I just love the picture of the car above! So very professionally taken! Thanks to Steve Tan! The 3-hour journey soon ended, and we reached Alor Star where my mother-in-law was waiting.

My nephew-in-law opening the car door
And that, my friends, marks the end of the wedding ceremony, detailed all the way from Kampar to Alor Star! I’m finally, officially, part of Saucer’s family.
I had to start calling everyone in his family like my own. It will take some getting used to, but time will definitely improve it!

Getting down from the car
I had fun during the whole wedding ceremony, the waiting in anticipation, the nervous feeling, the excitement, the worry, the stress! They all ended well! I didn’t realize how stressed I actually was until the whole ordeal was over, and we were finally resting in the hotel room. That was when I started to feel hungry and relieved. It was exactly the same feeling I had whenever I finished my exams in university. No kidding!

Haha apparently some guys said the wax strip not that bad! I guess they didn’t wait long enough for the wax to take action and they removed the strip REALLY slowly ok!
Wow! You really follow all the wedding customs and procedures fully by the book! Must be a lot of planning in advance! I think I prefer something more simple! Haha! : )

Haha Thanks Shingo T! I thought red looks very attractive and outstanding in pictures.. the fact that it coincides with CNY only means they can recycle their red dresses!

Glad we managed to make it on time! Totally impressed that you looked as amazing as you did on only 4 hours of sleep!
My only regret is not torturing the bridegroom’s heng dai enough lol. We were being so ‘kwai’ when the dai kum jie asked us to stop. Didn’t realise until later that she is on their side…..
Indeed you girls were being too nice…
They kept saying there was no challenge! LOL! But it’s fun though!
Thanks for being there babe!
