If we were in a smaller car…
At this moment, I have so much in my mind that I would like to blog about, starting from my Hen’s night, to my wedding dinner, to my wedding ceremony. But something happened today that precedes everything in my to-blog list.
It was about 4pm, and Saucer, my MIL and I were in the Mercedes S-Class, on our way back to KL. At certain points on the road, the roads were pretty wet due to the rain, but we were fine. The 4 of us were still chatting about something when suddenly we felt the car skidding to the right, due to the rain and slippery roads. For a split second, all of us kept quiet until we realized what was about to happen. The car seemed to lose control as we skidded to the right, and the driver tried to swerve it back to the left but to no avail. The tyres didn’t respond accordingly and lo and behold, we had our first hit to the back of the car, hitting the divider on the left side of the highway. Saucer’s mom panicked and shouted, as I turned white with fear. After the first hit, our car spun around across the road and we hit again, this time head first to the divider at the centre.
By then, I was already thinking, what was the worst that would happen. Will we die? But we were in an S-Class! Somehow, I had faith in the car. We continued to spin for about 3 rounds, hitting the front and back, until the car finally stopped. We were now in the middle of the road, with the head facing the wrong direction. I almost wanted to count my blessings that all of us were all right, when an oncoming car came heading towards us. It was getting nearer and nearer, and as much as I prayed that it wouldn’t hit us, it did, and quite badly so. The proton that hit us was badly damaged, with the front bonnet all dented and smashed, while our car was still standing solid. Thinking about it now, we were extremely lucky that the oncoming vehicle was just a car and not a lorry. Otherwise, I might not have been able to tell you my experience right now.
The accident was so scary that it got all of us shaken. Fortunately, the car still managed to move, but the proton didn’t have such luck. We moved to the side of the road, after which we waited for the driver to negotiate with the other driver. Whatever happened after that was history.

Even the Mercedes emblem was gone

I am so very thankful that all of us were safe and sound home now. It was one of the scariest experience that I ever had, barring the case where I went skiing that one time. I keep on imagining what would have happened if there were more cars on the road while we were spinning. We could have caused more cars to be hit. We could have overturned. We could have… Oh well, there’s no point thinking of all the what-ifs right now.
When we finally settled the police report, we continued our journey back to KL. I am not sure if yesterday was a bad day or not, but we saw 3 other accidents later on, involving cars skidding due to the rain as well. THREE accidents, somewhere near the Sungai Buloh exit on the PLUS highway. Scary.
Thank God for the sturdy and safe car. I can’t help but wonder what if we were in a smaller car…

Wah, your S class superb! S stands for Super Expensive isn’t it?
Yes Super Expensive, Super Safe, Super everything!
hey glad to know that everyone was safe. wonder what the speed the driver was going at. new cars with new tech doesn’t necessarily guarantee safety. most importantly the driver must have skill :p
