What happened on Valentine’s Day 2009
As promised, here is the account of how the proposal happened. Are you ready with tissues yet? Just kidding! *LOL*
This happened early last year, when I was still working in Penang. So don’t get confused!
It was a Friday, the 13th of February 2009. Saucer happened to be in Penang during that day for some work related matter. Since I was already planning to go and visit him in KL on the same day by flight, he also bought the same flight ticket with me to go back to KL together.

Flying on Firefly
Our flight was after work, so I managed to ask a friend to fetch us both to the airport. I was surprised that he was holding two boxes of Domino’s pizza when we met up. He said he ordered them for our dinner so that we could eat at the airport. Apparently by the time we reached KL, it would be too late to have dinner there. Well, fine by me, but a little weird there.
So we both ate at the airport while waiting for the time to board. The Firefly flight was good as usual. Punctual and safe. I forgot to book for a cab to fetch us from the Subang airport, something that I intended to do earlier. So we were left with either taking the airport cab or walking across the street to flag down other cabs or a bus. We chose the latter and stood for a good 10 minutes to realize that it was no use. All the cabs to Subang airport were practically monopolized by the airport cab company, so it was no point waiting. So we walked back to the airport cab and bought a ticket to go back to Taman Bahagia, where his car was parked. The cab fare was RM23, not too bad, thankfully.
We reached his car after 20 minutes or so and he started driving towards Putrajaya direction. Apparently he wanted to bring me to Alamanda to have drinks and then walk around the Putrajaya bridge because it’s nicely lit at night. I was thrilled by that, but the trip to Putrajaya was not very short. It was about 40 minutes or so and then he said he needed to go to the toilet (so like him). So he was driving and driving and we ended up at Putrajaya Shangrila. I was surprised! Well he said he wanted to use the toilet there, so OK with me. He parked the car and got down, but surprisingly, he went to the boot and took out our luggage bags! I asked him why, and he said it’s dangerous to leave the bags in the car. Then I said, my bag had nothing expensive in it, and it’s not a laptop bag. Then he just insisted, so I followed suit. And then I saw a glint in his eye. Very cheeky glimmer, I must say, and then it struck me. Are we going to stay there?! I asked him that and he said yes! I was so excited! It certainly caught me by a very BIG surprise! I thought it was going to be the start of a beautiful Valentine’s celebration.

Waiting at the lobby
So we walked to the lobby and I waited while he checked in.

We were shown into our room later, with parkview and an amazing bed! There were orchid petals shaped into a shape of a heart in the middle of the bed, with a small bouquet of 3 roses in the heart. It was so romantic!

Gorgeous bed
I was literally jumping and shouting around, while hugging him. I couldn’t believe it! There’s more, he told me. And he led me to the bathroom, where the bathtub was filled with water and rose petals. A flower bath! It was so gorgeous!

At that moment, I was just screaming for joy and jumping around like an excited kid. I really couldn’t ask for more. It was at that moment that he held my hands and looked at me seriously in the eyes, saying “Darling, we’ve been together for more than 3 years. Will you let me take care of your for the rest of your life?” My heart almost stopped there when I braced myself for the unexpected. I was smiling and just hugged him, muttering something I didn’t quite remember.
Then he went down on one knee, held out a diamond ring, and said “Darling, will you marry me?” At that point, I couldn’t think of anything else to say but yes, oh a million times yes! His eyes were red and watery, and so were mine. We were both scared and excited. Then he carried me up and swung me around in circles out of excitement. It was definitely a moment to treasure.

Us after the proposal (I was still in my work clothes!)
After that, we took a long bath in the candle lit bathroom with flowers in the bathtub. Nothing more romantic than that.

Then, we had our freshly squeezed orange juice (complimentary) while eating the delicious chocolate cake sent by the hotel. There were also lots of cute pralines and chocolate chip cookies, but nothing beats the amazing cake. Well, nothing beats my love, Saucer, of course. He’s the sweetest of all. Oh I love him so much.

Chocolate cake
The chocolate cake was really decadent! Creamy but not overpowering, and not too sweet too, with just the right chocolate flavour. We loved it to bits! Though we couldn’t finish it that night, because we were both too sweet for each other. *LOL*

Yummy chocolate cake
Only then I started to recall things that he had done to make this event a success. At first, he asked me what time our flight would reach KL, and he made sure we had dinner at the Penang airport so that we could head to Putrajaya directly after reaching KL. Good planning. Otherwise, I would be hungry and asking for food once we reached KL and he would only be able to bring me to the hotel very late at night.
Then, he saved the location of Shangrila Putrajaya in his GPS and renamed it as ‘putrajaya’. This way, I wouldn’t know where he was going except that it’s in Putrajaya. Very smart. I was unsuspecting. He even went to the extent of searching high and low for my swimming suit (in my Penang apartment), so that we could both swim in the hotel the next day! Oh, he even remembered my phone charger… So very sweet. My phone was seriously low on battery on that night, and he made things right! But most of all, he carried the ring all the way from KL to Penang and back to KL again for this amazing surprise for me. My eyes watered everytime I think of this wonderful day.

Thank you Saucer <3

The next day, we woke up early to a nice breakfast. We almost had the whole hotel to ourselves as it was very empty.

Obviously, I didn’t just eat salad for breakfast! I only took one picture of my food and gobbled the rest in. *LOL*
We headed to the pool next, which was not used by anyone at all. The best part was that the pool overlooked the park, amazing view from the top! After swimming, we both went into the steam room/sauna room. I even went for Jacuzzi for a few minutes. The entire process was extremely relaxing and comfortable. Ahh… just, perfect.
For Valentine’s day dinner, we ate at Delicious in Bangsar.

Minestrone soup with garlic bread

Chicken Caesar Salad

Duck confit
I enjoyed all the food tremendously, although I thought the minestrone soup was a tad too oily. The duck confit was the best! Tender and juicy on the inside, and the gravy on the side… oh so glorious! How could something so wonderfully palatable be possibly made?

Thanks to Saucer for the wonderfully planned event. It would not have been possible otherwise. *muaxx*
