UK Four Seasons – My first encounter with Poon Choi
UK Four Seasons is apparently very famous in the UK for its duck. We had the privilege of tasting this specialty together with Poon Choy, courtesy of Richard.

Menu
Before the food was served, we had the appetizer of mixed vegetables with lettuce leaves.

The main dish of the day – Poon Choi! It was my very first time having Poon Choi and I was so excited to find out whats beneath the steaming hot claypot!

And when it’s opened, a whiff of strong aroma attacked my nose buds and a wonderful array of food caught the sight of my eyes. It was a fabulous concoction of Braised Chinese Mushroom, Sea Cucumber, Fish Air Bladder, Fried King Prawn, Garlic Dried Scallop, Dried Oyster Ball, Sweet & Sour Fish, Four Seasons Roasted Duck, Crispy Pork, Garlic Chicken Leg, Dongfen, Chinese White Cabbage, Dried Bean Curd, Sweet Pea and Broccoli, all in one aromatic pot. Blissful!

All the ingredients used were of the freshest and they were very well marinated. Amazingly, even though there were so many dishes mixed together in a pot, their taste did not overpower each other, instead they complemented each other very well.

Huge prawn and mushrooms spotted!
Next dish was the signature Four Season Special Aromatic Crispy Duck. Each piece was generously cut and crispy thin skin. Dip it in the sauce for the perfect combination.

The Roasted Pork (siew yoke) didn’t fare too bad either with its very delicious skin! Roasted just about right with the meat still tender and juicy. Yum!

BBQ / Char Siew Pork was generously cut in huge pieces and was very flavourful.

Another specialty that was my first time was this Waxed Meat Rice in Hot Pot. At home, I usually just eat one type of waxed meat with rice, but the combination of all these waxed meat in a claypot just gave the rice a very strong aroma. You simply can’t resist eating it!

My favourite type of waxed meat!
Last but not least, something sweet for the tooth! UK Four Seasons prepared Double Boiled Sea Coconut with Soya Bean for us. Don’t you just feel healthier already by reading the name? Soya bean was fragrant, and sea coconut was not overly sweet. Just the way I like it.

What’s more, the Chinese New Year set is affordably priced at RM338+, RM438+ an dRM638+. Even though the menu states 6 persons, trust me, the portion is good enough for 10 persons. It was huge!
