Having a blast at Blue Lagoon in Port Dickson
It was our company family day trip and it was agreed that we made a trip to Port Dickson for a picnic! Since I had not been to Port Dickson (PD) before, I agreed almost right away.
It was held during a Sunday, so I thought, might as well go there a day earlier to discover the beauty of PD beaches that I always read about. We booked a room in Le Paris Hotel which was right in the middle of PD town itself. In actual fact, I booked another room somewhere in Blue Lagoon prior to that, but upon arriving the so-called ‘apartment’, the place was so quiet, eerie and gloomy and Saucer and I both thought it was better to look for some place nearer to civilization. Thank goodness for that! Our room in Le Paris had a sea view, which was really pretty!

The same evening we were there, it was raining the whole day!
That’s why we didn’t get to go to the beach. *sigh* The next morning though, we were up quite early to catch the sun light. The following pictures were taken from the beach just in front of our hotel.

Beach 2

What was I looking at?

A dead coral
As you can see, the sand was not really smooth and white, contrary to what I was expecting.

Slightly rocky beach

Soothing waves

Before long, we headed to Blue Lagoon, which was where our family picnic event was going to be. It was situated about 10 miles (16km) away from the PD town, and apparently one of the nicest beaches in PD. When I was there, again, I was disappointed. The beach there was slightly better, but the water was still murky and dark. There’s really nothing ‘blue’ about the Blue Lagoon, except for the sky.

My colleagues soon arrived with their families and everyone started building their own tents. When they saw both Saucer and I just standing and looking around, they asked us where’s our tent. I said, we didn’t have one.. and my colleagues just laughed and said, that’s because we don’t have kids yet! *LOL*

We had so much food, it was enough to feed the entire beach! Other than the potluck food that we all brought, we also had BBQ there. But it looked like some of the chicken were badly burnt! *LOL*

BBQ chicken, sausages and prawns
I took the time to get to know some of my colleagues’ family members and kids, especially these two that I enjoyed playing with the most! They’re so very cute!

Yummy food for everyone!
After eating, I took a walk on the beach. The ebb tide made the beach really soggy and squirmy to walk on, so much so that one of the kids kept crying. I guess it didn’t help that there were loads of small crabs crawling out of the holes in the beach. Pretty gross sight, I must say myself.

Murky water

Water sports
Since the water wasn’t really appealing, we resorted to playing on the beach. I relived my childhood by building sand castles! *LOL*

Building sand castles

Look at our work!
Later on, it was game time! We had games for children as well as adults. The first game for kids was to look for candies inside the sand. You should have seen the look on their faces when they were busy looking for candies. So very serious and intense!

Looking for candies on the beach
The second game was to find matching slippers that we placed on random on the beach. Some kids who didn’t understand ended up carrying only 1 sandal, only to be sent back to search for the matching half.

Search for a matching pair of sandals
When it came to the adults games, Saucer joined this game where you had to place a ball in between your legs and run across the specified length on the beach. Very similar to our sports during primary school days eh? Those days seemed so long ago. We used to be so active and agile. *sigh*
We also played another game in pairs, whereby we had to throw a water balloon to our partner and the partner must catch it. After every successful attempt, we had to take a step back away from our partner, hence making the separation distance larger. The pair that could last the longest without dropping the water balloon would win. We came in second!

Games for adults
The last game we played was in a pair of one adult and one child. We had to take turns filling up a bottle with sea water, using just one sponge! Man that was not as easy as it sounded to be. My sponge didn’t seem to contain water! Every time I ran out to the sea and back, there were merely few drops of water coming out from the sponge. *fml* Needless to way, my team got the last place for this.

Fill up the bottle!
Lastly, a group picture! It was my first time hanging out with my colleagues and their families, which ended up pretty successful. Only thing was, I ended up having mild sun burn on my legs and arms! Next time I must apply more sun block! *LOL*

Hehe.. time for a revisit eh?
nice photo! may i know what camera u using?
Using Panasonic LX3 my dear.
The view from the hotel room looks lovely, as with the pool. One can jump into the sea straight after playing in the pool (or vice versa)
Pity the beach is not smooth sand. Unfortunately PD beaches are like that, right?
The picnic spot is a tad too near to parking spot. But great lah, can park so near to the beach. No need to walk so far!
I spent some nights years ago at Blue Lagoon and I agree with you, the area was too gloomy and eerie! There’s even a ghost story attached to one of the place ther. @_@
Yea, I went to two beaches in PD and both were not too appealing.
Oh yea, the picnic place we chose was definitely very near the roadside! *LOL* You actually dared to spend the night at Blue Lagoon? It was so eerie and quiet! *gasp*

Nice of your company to have a family trip like this.
Port Dickson’s beach does look a little disappointing, though I can see what is fun is not the beach, but the people you go there with.

The view from the balcony is very nice! Too bad the beach was not! But you looks like you and Saucer had fun! So I guess if you go to the beach again next year, you will be building tents? LOL!

Build tents! Not so fast
It’s a fun day for you and saucer meeting everybody. I am not also fond of tents and camps and prefer to book hotel rooms =P
Your hotel view’s great. The whale pool and the beach nearby… too bad it rained the whole day. That’s such a spolier!
