Appalled
This is just going to be a pretty short post. I am still filled with dismay and disgust at how it could have happened. This morning, I was walking to my car to get to work as usual, and when I came out of the elevator, I smelled a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Don’t you just hate it when people smoke right in front of the entrance? It’s like they don’t give you any options but to inhale the toxic gas. It turned out to be this old man in his 60′s I suppose, having a cigarette by the entrance. That wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was, he was holding the hand of a toddler, who was standing just next to him! The toddler couldn’t be more than 2 years of age, and yet, he was FORCED to inhale those harmful fumes from his grandfather! How could he let this happen? Perhaps, he was using the reason of bringing his grandchild out as an escape for him to smoke. I couldn’t bear the thought of it. Imagine this to happen once a day, that is more than enough to pollute the young lungs of the toddler. *sigh* I feel so very sorry for the toddler, and so disgusted at the old man.

i agree with you on the part where adults smoke right next to the children…where did they put their brains? do they want their children to grow up with some sort of disadvantage to the rest?stunted brain development? low lung capacity? wtf?
now the uncle, being the ignorant buffoon that he is smoking with a kid in hand….u cant expect him to respect others right to fresh air when he doesn’t even give a damn about the kid which most likely is his grandson!
the management also plays a part where they should enforce no smoking on the grounds of the premises as many commercial buildings in KL. then again i saw this foreigner..who was smoking smack right inside midvalley megamall at the perfume counter when his wife was testing out the fragrances!

i hate irresponsible smokers, and those who smoke in eateries. and PLENTY of smokers in lowyat plaza!!! i hope they get cancer or something by polluting others.

Oh yea, lowyat plaza is a nightmare. You can smell smoke before you even enter. *argh*
Sometimes it is difficult to explain the harms of smoking to the older people. They started smoking before the researchers studied the effects of nicotine.
I am just thinking that 10 years from now, teenagers may condemn us for doing things that have adverse effects on the environment, such as driving gas-guzzling car (instead of electric car), eating beef, turning on air-conditioner etc. We are used to doing these, and can’t easily let go of them.
Well, there are things which can be avoided and things that can’t. They can smoke all they want but they should not take away the rights of other people to unpolluted air.

Poor kid! From what I know, the effects of second hand smoke is worse than first hand. So the poor kid will suffer more! Such an irresponsible adult!

Agree with foongpc. I might sound evil here, but Im hoping that the old man will kick the bucket soon. He had his run, so don’t ruin a perfectly healthy young kid who still have years to come.
