Fancy Mee Corner Pan Mee
Recently, a few of us bloggers including BigBoysOven, taufulou, Wilson and Chris gathered at a relatively new outlet of pan mee in Jalan Ipoh, called Fancy Mee Corner. Searching through the internet, I found out that there is another outlet with similar name located at Desa Setapak. Anyway, looking for this place needs some attention because it’s located along a narrow road of shophouses, and parking is pretty tricky.
The place is nicely decorated with somewhat modern and simplistic furniture. Also, the white and light blue interior gave it a very tidy and clean feeling.

The menu was a no-nonsense 2-page laminated cardboard, with pictures as well, to make ordering a breeze.

On every table, there was a set of chillis ranging from dried red chilli, green chilli to homemade chilli sauce.

Fancy Mee Corner also serves my favourite drink! The Pearl Milk Tea.
I ordered my beloved honeydew flavour, with pearls!

One of the other specialty drink was the bright yellow ice-blended mango drink. Loaded with Nata de Coco at the bottom as well, in addition to the mango puree.

Before we had our main courses, we were served with some side dishes.

Fried Fu Zuk with Curry (RM2.00)
Loved the combination of crispy and paper thin fu zuk with warm curry. Very creative!

Fried Wantan (Meat) 8pcs (RM3.20)

Soup Dumpling (Traditional) 5pcs RM4.20
The dumpling is a must-try! Huge and packed with filling of meat, combined with super thin skin. Fabulous!

Fried Pan Mee (Salt) RM2.50/Fried Pan Mee (Sugar) RM2.50
The fried pan mee was something new to me, and I didn’t quite manage to acquire the taste for it.

Fried Dumpling (Traditional) 5pcs RM4.20
The fried dumpling is a must-try too, if you don’t fancy the soup version. Equally appetizing side dish loaded with flavour.

Fried Dumpling (Meat & Ginger) 5pcs RM4.20
After the side dishes, we were served with the main courses of pan mee, starting with the popular Chilli Pan Mee. This time, we were smart enough not to put in too many spoons of chilli, hence the spicyness level was acceptable and yummy.
Some commented that it’s even better than the famous Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee. I haven’t tried the latter, so I can’t comment.

Dried Chili Pan Mee (Anchovies) (R) RM4.90 (L) RM5.60
I still prefere the traditional soup pan mee, also known as Mum’s Pan Mee in this shop. Soft, flat and thin noodles, with anchovies and piping hot soup, nothing beats that.

There was a new variety of Spring Onion pan mee, with loads of lettuce and spring onion on top, coupled with pork meat inside.

Fancy Mee Corner also came up with a dry version of pan mee called Minced Pork Pan Mee. It was distinctive by appearance since it had the unmistakable minced pork sauce on top. The look of it might not be very appetizing, but mix it all up, and you’d change your mind.

Minced Pork Pan Mee (dry) (R) RM4.90 (L) RM5.60
Another variety of dry pan mee was the Braised Pan Mee, with braised pork.

Last but not least, Curry Chicken Pan Mee was definitely attractive from its appearance as well as its smell. Very fragrant chicken curry coupled with pan mee, was definitely a good match. There were meatballs, chicken meat, potato, taufupok (beancurd) and fish cakes in the soup as well. Good value for money indeed.

Look at all the bowls of pan mee we had on that day! Amazing!

In my opnion, the variety of pan mee with different soups and sauces is just secondary compared to the main ingredient, which is the noodles! The noodles have to be smooth and thin but firm. Having the perfect noodles would withstand all kinds of condiments coupling with them.

fancy alright. but the novelty of the pan mee has somewhat worn off, after so many outlets opening one after another.
true, i dont like Kin Kin as well, too over-rated, for some salty-spicy chilli flakes to do the trick? nah ….
still, the deep fried version of the pan mee is very new.
